After watching a literary film, what kind of story may it often tell?

I think this film is talking about "crazy" and "normal".

Three arguments:

Genius is always a little crazy.

Music is a haven for lunatics.

Music is also a path that can lead normal people to success.

Who is crazy? Who is normal? Try to analyze:

1) Clara and the two French guys are real musical lunatics.

Although they appear to be in their right minds, they make music out of their own pockets and don't care about getting on stage and being successful and famous.

It's normal people who choose to go crazy for music. Because they think music is the meaning of their lives. Music is not a tool to be successful and famous, it is a career they are fully committed to.

But ironically, after leaving Frank, they also had to sing songs they despised in bars to make ends meet. Because they can easily switch between lunatic and normal.

2) Frank, mentally ill but trying to be "normal" all the time.

Mental illness made him afraid of the world, afraid of socializing, so he found himself a hood.

In fact, he has always longed for "normal", and is willing to treat everyone around him gently and give them encouragement. He has no edges and corners, and encourages Xiaohongmao's creation with sincerity and enthusiasm. Take the initiative to appease the holiday family who came to drive them away. He also often describes his expression under his hood to others.

Xiaohongmao's social software made him discover that there are audiences who like music that he can understand. It turned out that he could integrate into the public through music. He thought this might be his way to "normal", so in the alley, he reached out to Xiao Hongmao and chose to perform with him instead of leaving with Clara.

He thought the hood was his safety zone. But on the stage, he still couldn't face the surging crowd, shouting from the sky, he collapsed.

In fact, his safety zone is not the headgear, but the three lunatics in the band. So after leaving them, he can no longer create the songs he used to have at his fingertips. Finally, he returned to the three. In front of them, he uses what he sees in a run-down bar to instantly compose the song at the end of the credits. When he sings I love you all, he finally understands that he can never be "normal". He chooses his "safety zone".

He is a musical genius, but music to him is something like instinct. Music is a haven for lunatics. Through music, he met Clara and the French, and found a "like" who could accept him.

3) Dan, who committed suicide, only dares to love immobile plastic dolls. He also has problems with his spirit. He doesn't dare to tell the rest of the band when he has no money. He always wants to commit suicide.

He loved music and stopped playing the keyboard after realizing that his musical talent was mediocre.

But music is his love, and the road to love can't work, so what's the point of life? Maybe that's how he always wanted to die.

Hanging in Frank's headgear is why he wants to be a genius like Frank until his death.

4) Xiao Hongmao is the only normal person and an intruder in this group of "madmen".

He couldn't write a song but he kept working hard and put out the money to support the band. His love for music is actually just a desire to become famous through music.

He thought his creations were mediocre because he had not experienced Frank's predicament, and felt that the ordeal with the freaks would stimulate his creation. But in the end Frank's father said that mental illness is not the source of Frank's creation, but an obstacle to his creation.

He finally faced his mediocrity calmly.

In fact, he's just a kind person, just because of that musical dream (yes, the kind of musical dream mentioned in every draft) a little crazy.

He's always normal, and the only one who always wants to take off Frank's hood to see what he really is.

When he woke up from the dream, he didn't want to hurt these "madmen", so he went to remedy it. In the end he watched Frank and the three musical lunatics on stage play their own music, which was hard to accept. He smiled and did not join. It's about, a person finally realizes his ordinary, and shakes hands with his ordinary.

In the end, music lunatics are together and make their own niche music. Whether they are actively being lunatics or have no choice but to be lunatics, music is their safe haven, and they keep each other warm together.

Xiao Hongmao saw himself clearly and returned to the normal world.

Crazy people and normal people live their own lives. But the stories they experienced together moved us moviegoers. complete.

Frank quotes

  • Jon Burroughs: Miserable childhood. Mental illness. Where do I find that kind of inspiration?

  • Frank: I've always dreamed of one day having a band member who shared my vision of creating extremely likable music. So, thank you, Jon. You gave me the little push I needed.
