War and Peace is one of Leo Tolstoy's masterpieces, a novel on an epic scale that reflects the entire turbulent era in Russia from 1805-1820. It displayed the "unparalleled picture of Russian life" magnificently, showing the patriotic enthusiasm and the spirit of brave struggle of the Russian people in many ways. The whole work is narrated with the lives of the four aristocratic families of Kulakin, Rostov, Balkonsky and Bezukhov as the main line of the plot. The characters' psychology, actions and expressions are analyzed and described thoroughly and vividly. Napoleon led a French army of one million troops and opened the gate of Russia, which caused panic among the Russian people. People sneered at Napoleon, a military genius. The horses dealt with each other, and in the end, they lost the capital of Russia - Moscow. After that, Napoleon began to decline gradually. In Moscow, he commanded the army to loot the property of the residents without discipline. The end result was to hug and flee.
