To be honest, watching Tom’s action movies, there is indeed a feeling of “appearing” as soon as they appear, because the Mission: Impossible series is so deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. The Ethan Hunter who knows that no one knows and hangs up all the way. How many people have been able to make soy sauce since junior high school until their children, and that invincible Ethan is still saving the world. Therefore, as soon as JR ( Jack Reacher ) appeared on the scene , the audience (me) immediately felt "on the scene", and even many audiences (not me) ridiculed JR as the "low-profile version" or "poor version" of Mission Impossible. So since it is so similar, why did Brother Tom try this role, and also starred in two consecutive movies. I guess that the biggest factor in this is only one thing, feelings.
In this play, Jack is not an agent with a team like Ethan, with high technology, and running to save the world. Jack, there is no clear mission like Ethan, no clear purpose, he is not a great hero, he is just fighting for the justice that he insists on in his heart, and this justice is as simple as most people think. The good guys completely kill the bad guys. This thoroughness is not simply about completing tasks or bringing them to justice, but about completely defeating them. Simply put, "cutting the grass and removing the roots." When the protagonist incorporates this simple self-recognition into the movie, you will feel that he is more real and more flesh-and-blood. In the final farewell scene with "daughter", when Jack said "sometimes" gently twice in a row, you can feel Jack's loneliness, and at the same time, you can feel his uniqueness as a straight man. It's warm. Not only unwilling, but firm in self, sincere and simple without any impurities, I think this is the reason why Tom loves Jack.
However, although the sequel has some big leaps compared to the first one, there are still slots. Two points:
First, we can see the tenderness of the tough guy from Brother Tom, but there is too much tenderness. Maybe it would be better for Jack to be more free and easy. The protagonist used to be a hero with great military merits. In order to be able to hold on to the justice in his heart, he refused to confuse with others and set foot on the road of wandering alone. The justice he thinks is also recognized by most, and he chooses to defend it by all means. Such a personage is lonely, and Brother Atang has it, but at the same time, it should be free and easy, and this is not enough, not enough, or even not.
Second, the plot is flawed. Compared with the first one, two female character elements are added, a confidant who meets each other as before, and a potential family relationship inspired by a suspected daughter. The emotional drama is true and not hypocritical. , But this is a detective action movie after all, plus it matches the escape style, the rhythm should be more compact (see the rhythm and tension of the spy shadow), and the suspense should be attractive. And from the moment the heroine was caught to the final discovery of how the hero behind the scenes committed the crime, there was not an attractive suspense thread that led the audience to watch the movie. To put it simply, the whole process was constantly peeing.
However, in general, I still look forward to the appearance of the third part. Compared with the first and second part, the character set is fuller. The Jack portrayed by Tom is gradually gaining popularity. The series of films need to be precipitated. In terms of this, this one is not bad, and Brother Tom also needs to find more Jack's feeling. In addition, there is another important reason.
I was moved by the simplicity and sincerity of such a straight man.
Not pretentious, not overly embellished, simple and straightforward. Not obsessed with the trivial, although not smirking but without distracting thoughts, simple and firm. If there is such a person around, how can it not make people feel full of security. And I think that the audience who likes this movie must be moved by the character of the protagonist. I think the Chinese translation of this movie is particularly good, "Never Look Back". Never look back on the path of upholding justice and self-defense.
