quiet burning

I didn't know at first that this was a movie about the same sex theme, but I just saw Amway on the Internet and happened to be able to watch this movie, and I was also attracted by its name "Portrait of a Burning Woman", there is a quiet great feeling , so at first I thought it was a female resistance theme, which was contrary to my imagination. Perhaps because of blindly watching the movie, I slowly discovered that their love was budding, they were overwhelmed, they retreated, they tested each other, and they showed that their love was in the final parting. This process brought me a very magical feeling.

When I first sensed something was wrong, it was by looking at the rich lady's eyes, her micro-expression, and Marianne's dodging demeanor. It was at first obvious what Eloise said to Marianne after she went out alone. For the first time I felt the emptiness without you. At that time, I felt a sudden feeling in my heart, and the direction of the story began to deviate from my imagination. Then, after Marianne confessed, she could clearly feel the change in Eloise's whole person, as if she wrapped herself up again and became indifferent. The lines here are interesting and meaningful. At this point I fully understand what the story is about.

Then there is the bonfire. Putting aside the emotions, I think the play there is very emotional, the chorus of a cappella, the lively night, through the roaring bonfire, two people standing opposite each other, watching through the firelight To each other, smile slowly, the picture is even dizzy, it is really beautiful. The bonfire is burning quietly, and the love between them is also burning quietly. I personally think that the fire on Eloise's skirt and the fall to the ground is also a metaphor for their ending. Eloise's heart has already burned the flame of love for Marianne, but she has no way to resist and can't extinguish the flame by herself .

In the small climax that came later, they had to face the reality. I actually understand the dialogue between them. Really, this paragraph reminds me a bit of "The Graduate", in which the hero and heroine eloped and sat on the bus at the end. A shot of the smile slowly disappearing from the car. This is the reality, maybe they both want each other to be brave, and Marianne wants her to resist. When Eloise asked her "Do you want me to resist?", Marianne answered no, they love each other but fear for the future, and You don't have to run away to prove how much you love me, here I see the expression of Marianne's love, I really hope you can come with me, but I don't want you to go with me, she doesn't dare, she's afraid she will ruin her . It made me feel very real, that love is letting go sometimes.

I really like the nuanced presentation of same-sex relationships, as others have said, it doesn't show eroticism by showing the lingering of large-scale sex. Like taking armpit shots, blocking through mirrors, etc. I like the scene of the two of them painting the most. When you stare at me, I also stare at you. You know my little habits, and I also know yours. How beautiful. I think this film preserves a feeling of that era, no other factors, no love in modern life, slow, hazy, continuous, no reason and maybe no end. This feeling reminds me of "Call Me by Your Name". It's not the same feeling, but I think both films have a deep imprint in them, and their styles are vividly displayed, call me by your name It's like a small and fresh country, hazy summer Eden. Their endings are also a bit similar. One is a long shot to show the change of the male protagonist's expression, and the other is a long shot to show the expressions of the characters, which is very meaningful and feels a little blank.

The whole movie gave me an instant feeling of oil painting, the picture is beautiful, the lighting and the colors are so beautiful. There are also actors whose expressions are really powerful, and the plot is actually quite simple. In fact, I really like this movie, but it doesn't have a deep resonance. I feel the same way when you call me by your name. After watching it, I don’t think there is anything profound, but maybe I suddenly see the clip one day, and it will feel a little lingering, just like when I saw the call me on a certain platform. The clip is really a bit stuffy in my heart, maybe that's why I feel the aftertaste.
