A kind-hearted alien struggling to survive in a cruel world

"Breakfast On Pluto" is adapted from the British Booker Prize (The Man Booker Prize, considered to be the highest award in contemporary English fiction and one of the most influential literary awards in the world) nominated author Patrick McCabe of the same name Bestselling novel.

The content is extremely cruel, but the performance has a warm and fresh atmosphere.

The most amazing thing is that the male protagonist is a handsome man like Cillian Murphy. The Queer he plays is more girly than the little freckles in "The Danish Girl"... and plays very well! After watching the movie, I really can't forget his thin girl-like figure and charming blue eyes.

The story is actually very tragic: the priest and the maid gave birth to a beautiful child who was fostered in an Irish family since childhood. Born as a Queer, he was full of rebellious spirit since high school. The worldly vision could not tolerate him, and his misunderstanding of his gender made him annoyed, so he could only run away. I went to London to find my mother, and from then on I entered a tragic life, with only deceit, insult, betrayal and injury. The only man who has ever loved him can't give him a decent way of living. He even misses the police station because there is no sense of security.

At the end of the movie, although he found his mother, he found that he could never find his mother's love; and this wandering was ended by his unbearable father, which gave him a sense of belonging. In the end, he was finally able to face the eyes of others bravely and be a man with his head held high (but the ending may not be bright).

This movie reminds me of "Androgynous", which is also a grief for LGBT people. Women disguise themselves as men to survive, which is similar to the sadness of wanting to be a woman in this film.

In fact, they are all kind people, but Naihe has been unable to be understood and accepted by others. All they get is harm, but they still struggle to live...

Breakfast on Pluto quotes

  • Patrick "Kitten" Braden: [voice over] But did true love save Kitten from the hands of the beast, in that worst of all fairy tales? No. What saved Kitten was her precious perfume spray, bought for £2.99 in Roches Stores on Henry Street before she left her beloved Emerald Isle.

  • Patrick "Kitten" Braden: John Joe! John Joe, woohoo! John Joe! Not a Womble anymore?

John Joe Kenny: Don't talk to me about fuckin' Wombles. I'm in the Tower of London now. 30 smackers in the paw, boy. No questions asked. They're looking for a Mary Queen of Scots. Would you be up for it?

Patrick "Kitten" Braden: They'd chop my head off surely.
