From the bottom of my heart, Tom's action movies are exciting and good-looking, but when it comes to acting skills, when it comes to real emotional people, Tom is not particularly outstanding. And this film is one of Tom's hard-working performances.

Lang has been competitive since he was a child. He was unwilling to be reconciled. He liked competition from a very young age. When Lang was in high school, Lang participated in a wrestling competition and lost in a major competition. Lang was very sad. In a televised speech, Long saw President Kennedy's rousing speech and wanted to serve his country. Once the army came to the school to recruit soldiers, Lang decided to leave his beloved girl, put a pen to join the army, and fight for the country. Just at the prom, on a rainy day, Lang ran from home to school and danced one last dance with his beloved girl Donna.

With troops assigned to the Vietnam battlefield, it was a huge honor for Lang to serve his country. On the Vietnam War battlefield, Lang fought bravely and became the squad leader. Every time he fought, Lang set an example. During a battle besieging a village, the commander ordered an attack, and a row of bullets passed, only to look up and see the slaughter of innocent Vietnamese farmers, women and children, in a shocking scene. Soon, the Vietnamese soldiers began to fight back. In the chaotic scene, Lang accidentally killed his comrade-in-arms. Although after returning, the officer repeatedly emphasized that this was not Lang's problem, but left a lingering shadow in his heart. .

In a village battle, Lang followed the leader heroically, and ended up being surrounded by the enemy. Lang was hit by a bullet in the ankle. He wanted to escape but couldn't escape. As a result, Lang was shot several times and was rescued by his comrades. Since then, Lang's military career has ended. The environment of the hospital is as bad as it is, and it is catching up with the government to cut military spending, and even the cost of the hospital has dropped again and again. It was in such an environment that Lang was treated. Lang's legs were crippled and amputated. His legs were gone, and Lang's body and mind suffered a huge blow.

With the help of his father, Lang returned to his hometown again, the hometown he longed for, but everything was not what it was when he left. At first, Lang talked eloquently, proud of his sacrifice for his country and his heroic fighting. But the people around him don't care about Lang's behavior at all. In people's eyes, Lang is a cripple and deserves respect, but if he talks about his disability blindly, people are annoyed, and the anti-war demonstrations are getting stronger and stronger, even his own younger brother. Thinking the Vietnam War was a mistake. Lang felt that the people around him were unfair to him, and that the society was not fair to a Vietnam veteran like him. So Lang was drinking and having fun every day, which made his mother very uncomfortable. He insulted his family and was kicked out of the house.

When Lang came to Mexico, he had never had sex, and was very sad. Here, Lang met a Vietnam veteran who was also disabled. Under the guidance of the veteran, Lang came to the brothel to have fun, and soon, due to personality reasons, Lang and the two were kicked out again. After Lang returned to the United States, he gradually realized that Vietnam needed to reflect on his own and look at the boys who were sent to the battlefield. Lang joined the anti-war camp and even participated in TV interviews to show people the real situation of the Vietnam War.

Born on July 4th, destroyed by patriotism. Oliver Staunton "defamated" a simple soul for nearly two and a half hours. The cruelty, shocking, and substitution of the whole movie far surpassed that of "Field Platoon". It vividly demonstrated the brainwashing of Catholicism and patriotism. If a country encourages you to sacrifice for it, it is no longer worthy of being loved.

It's a very good anti-war film. It's hard to say whether it reflects the real situation, but the social conflicts and thoughts in the film are thought-provoking.

Born on the Fourth of July quotes

  • [Ron is attempting to walk in the hospital; Willie is beside him]

Ron Kovic: Am I good? Hey

    [drags himself forward]

Ron Kovic: , am I good?

Willie: Man, you're one crazy Marine, Kovic - so gung-ho and everything, but you don't know shit about what's really happenin' in this country.

    Ron Kovic: Fuck you, Willie.

Willie: I'm serious man. It ain't about burnin' the flag and Vietnam, man. While we fight for rights over there, we ain't got no rights at home. It's about Detroit and Newark, man. It's about racism, man.

    Ron Kovic: Is that right?

Willie: Because you can't get no job at home. Vietnam is a white man's war, a rich man's war.

Ron Kovic: (contemptuously) Where's my money?

Willie: I'm serious, man, you gotta read some books. There's a revolution going on, Kovic. Brothers are gettin' it together, and if you ain't part of the solution, man, then you're part of the problem.

  • Chaplain - Vietnam: How are you?

Ron Kovic: [weakly] Tell them - they have to operate on me. There's something wrong with me.

Chaplain - Vietnam: The doctors are real busy right now. There's a lot of wounded here today. No time for anything except trying to stay alive, so you got to try and stay alive, okay? You hear me? Try and stay alive.

    [pause]

Chaplain - Vietnam: I've come to give you your last rites. Are you ready?

    Ron Kovic: [weakly] Yeah.

Chaplain - Vietnam: I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. You brught nothing into this world, and it is certain that you will take nothing out of it. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
