To be honest, after watching Game of Thrones, my standards for this type of drama have always been very high. Personally, I think "Dark Matter" can be regarded as a successful drama, but it is indeed overrated to be called a divine drama.
First of all, it is the most direct aspect.
The special effects in the play are simply impeccable, and almost every frame can feel the taste of a magical blockbuster (and the burning of funds). For example, the "Armored Bear King" Yurek appeared, Lee took a hot air balloon over the atmosphere, and Asriel opened a crack at the end.
It is worth mentioning that the title of the play is also very beautiful. In more than a minute, it skillfully combines elements such as dust, compass, telescope, knife, hot air balloon, and multiple worlds. From transitions, pictures to music, they are all excellent.
Second, there is the character aspect.
Personally, I feel that the character creation of this drama is quite successful. When it comes to the multi-character image structure, I can't help comparing it with "Stranger Things". Although "Dark Matter" is not as perfect as the former, it is certainly not bad.
Asriel and lyra are undoubtedly my two favorite characters.
Lyra is somewhat similar to Asriel in some ways (a father and daughter after all), most notably bravery and curiosity. But in some ways, the two are completely different opposites. Lyra attaches great importance to family and friendship, Coulter invites Lyra to London, Lyra strongly pleads to bring her friend Roger, and join the Gypsies to rescue Roger and other children after they disappear;
Although Asriel loves Lyra deeply, this love seems insignificant in front of his work. In order to complete his research and "benefit" the world, he would not hesitate to sacrifice the life of his children and his relatives.
Finally, let's talk about the plot.
Many details in the play are handled very well, and the plot progresses tightly and in a well-organized manner, but there are still many logical problems.
(Simply summarize a few details that you may not have noticed)
(The following is the unreasonable part of the plot that I found)
In general, there are good points and bad points in the play, but "nothing is perfect", if you ignore these unreasonable points, it is indeed a good work.
(Also, the little angel Daphne is so charming ❤️)
