It was neither Charlotte nor Samantha who had it all. In fact, it was Carrie. She had it and she screwed it all. She had the lover-type ex who still loved her, and the husband-type "present" who was, also, for the time being, in love with her. She couldn't make a right choice, she couldn't resist the seduction of having it all, so she did a stupid thing, and lost it all, well at least at that moment.
Life is about timing. Yes that's true. Right person right time right place. But life is also about making choices, which means, we have to sacrifice and compromise sometimes, or, unfortunately, most of the time. And every time when the temptation is more appealing, it is almost for sure that the cost to be found out later is more unaffordable. And we can earn more money and get more promotion, we don't really have more "affordability" as time goes by. And to make matters worse, it is even more true for girls than for guys. Yeah life is never easy. And it won't be, forever and for always.
