I read "The Eucharist"

Tonight, I watched "The Eucharist". It was Poland's Olympic bid this year, and it was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.

Looking at the poster, and watching the first 105 minutes of the movie, I thought it was a story of a man's redemption. Unexpectedly, the last 5 minutes reversed: this is a story of a person who seeks redemption and fails.

Of course, calling it a "great reversal" is biased. Only this ending is logical. Where in the world is there small freshness? The so-called cruelty of life is to break the assumption, even if it is dressed in the cloak of religion. Just as Lu Zhishen said before his death, "A letter came from the Qiantang River, and today I will know that I am me".

With the help of the camera's light blue filter, we were able to feel the coolness of the film at any time. However, how to tell whether this is dawn or dusk?

The first film this year can be included in the top ten candidates of the year. Is it because I believe that I am, do I need to care about the opinions of others to decide whether I am? I thought he was wavering, but his words were loud and his actions were unhesitating. I thought he was firm, but I saw the flickering uncertainty in his glance and eyes. He tried hard to cleanse a "murderer" who was portrayed as someone in the community and himself. His restlessness and calmness, his energy and relief, I think I can feel it in this "no surprise" story.

The more you look later, the more you understand that this movie has nothing to do with religion. The changes in a person’s mood, emotions, and personality are nothing more than the external environment, what you see, hear, know, and feel. It has nothing to do with religion. Religion here is just a kind of Concrete catharsis.

Corpus Christi quotes

  • Daniel: You know what we're good at? Giving up on people. Pointing the finger at them. To forgive doesn't mean to forget. "Forgive" means "love". To love someone despite their guilt. No matter what the guilt is.

  • Priest: I made my confession, but confession solves nothing.
