"Assassination Stronghold": New Innovation and Anticlimactic

From the point of view of "Assassination Stronghold", turning the episode "24 Hours" into "2 Hours" is really not a marginal matter. "24" can explain the whole picture of emergencies clearly, because there is enough time for 24 hours (minus 360 minutes) to organically combine the course of the event and the behavior of the characters. The audience is amazed that the time condensed by the film can be combined. A lot of fun. In the same way, it is not impossible for a certain detail of an action movie with many elements to be enlarged into twenty-four hours. On the contrary, it is bound to fall apart.

In order to avoid such a situation, the director and screenwriter of "Assassination Stronghold" tried to use the popular multi-linear structure to get the film's actually very monotonous storyline. The whole film spreads the full picture of the event from the perspective of each character. Undoubtedly, this attempt by the director is worthy of praise and encouragement. It is an innovation that explores the narrative structure of action movies inspired by the successful drama "24". It is a pity that the numerous questions arising from this will inevitably be difficult to control in a short period of time as the plot unfolds.

During the first third of the film, the tension of the story gradually becomes full of impact as the perspective expands. An assassination, an explosion, and many clues from the panoramic chaotic scene have formed the narrative charm of "24". The linear structure of "24" uses the continuous narrative of time, and the many perspectives refined by the multi-linear structure of "Assassination Stronghold" are quite suitable for the space and time of the film. The characters are different, what you see and hear is quite different, and the authenticity of the incident and the various crises are eye-catching.

Soon after it was new, the process of the film began to imitate the conspiracy of "24" and lost big and small baggage. Sure enough, the president's encounter will be more complicated, and the decisive battle between the two sides will not be so simple. From a certain moment on, the multi-linear structure abandoned the usual practical effect of refining the inner thinking through narrating the behavior of the characters, and quickly transformed into a single linear structure. Although this trick is not eye-catching in the film's tight series, it definitely reduces the quality of the film.

Audiences will no longer continue to pay attention to the emotional oppression brought by various perspectives, and they are directly brought into the traditional process of Hollywood action movies by the director. This is the action after a big baggage was thrown in the middle part of the film. Obviously, the director cleverly realized that after the start of the multi-linear structure of the show, the short duration of the film is not waiting for anyone, and it is impossible to be unable to create the depth of "Crash" in the loss of every second. Everything has to return to the normal trajectory, to become the usual classic narrative, the depth of the multi-linear pursuit is just a specious gimmick.

At the end, the biggest burden is of course to distinguish and eliminate the real culprit. Moreover, the film has a high-intensity tribute to the fast-cutting skills of "The Bourne". Therefore, the top-heavy film pattern is particularly obvious. The original novelty didn't bring about a higher plot or a more gorgeous narrative, and even some of the deep and unspeakable were also murdered in a flimsy manner. Why did the old agent catch up with the real culprit by accident? Why would highly skilled terrorists face a child's sudden brake rollover? The handling of these rather abrupt and important plots is obviously the choreographer's poor manners, not to mention the way the old agent discovered the truth.

With the usual linear structure narrative, the film tells the story of an old secret agent with a mental disorder who was attacked by terrorists while performing the mission of protecting the president. This experienced old bodyguard pursued it bravely, eliminated the terrorists from inside and outside, and rescued the president alone. The director disrupted the normal narrative pattern and refined the perspective of each character: there are poor American citizens who are patriotic, loyal policemen with psychological barriers, terrorists who die for love, local mothers and daughters in trouble, and There are people who have suffered tragically. Each role is a typical representative, and a lot of blank space is required for the depth of the film.

In the final ending, the brakes may be handled by the choreographer emphasizing the helplessness and absurdity of the war against terrorism, trying to use the life of a child to sublimate the three converging spiritual forces. This method is inevitably metaphysical. According to common sense, not to mention terrorists who have successfully planned, how can even desperadoes be so kind as if they have seen God. For the same reason, the director can no longer control his simple story in the process of imitating fashionable products.

In fact, getting rid of the confusion about the plot disorder of the film, "Assassination Stronghold" is still remarkable as a high-level popcorn action movie. At least, the new mode has played down the vulgarity of many conventional action movies, such as the shooting scene where the hero does not die, the omnipotence of the lone hero, and in the end, the laid-off old policeman has used experience to chase down the culprit and dazzling professional skills. , This is a double imitation and tribute to Jack Bauer and Bonn.

The film successfully created a large number of hot scenes in a short period of time, inheriting the essence of Hollywood action movies. For viewers who love action movies, the film is quite eye-catching. And the producer himself is purely for this commercial element. But after watching the anticlimactic "Assassination Stronghold", I can't help but worry about the two-hour TV movie before the next season of "24". Because turning a series into a movie is really not an easy task.
