Oliver Stone's 1991 film was made in the assassination of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas.

The assassination ended in the first ten minutes of the movie. The selling point of this film is who is the real murderer of Kennedy's assassination. The District Attorney in New Orleans, Garrison, discovered that the reports provided by the FBI and the Warren Commission conflicted with the information he had, which aroused his curiosity. So Garrison led his investigators to reopen the case. The results of the preliminary investigation convinced the prosecutor that there was another real culprit in the assassination of the President, and that it had a lot to come. However, the investigation has fallen into a quagmire here, and the witnesses who were willing to appear in court have died inexplicably, prompting more insiders to keep it secret. The news media suddenly stepped in, listening devices flooded every corner of the prosecutor's office, and even the prosecutor's family members faced security threats. The immense pressure made the investigation unsustainable, and at this moment came the news that Martin Luther King and Kennedy’s brothers were assassinated one after another. undercurrent. Sure enough, the final hasty prosecution ended in the prosecutor's loss, and the defendant, who was the only clue, was released in court.

The film JFK caused a huge sensation when it was released. The film once again aroused public curiosity about this historical mystery, and the U.S. government was pressured to release more information about Kennedy's death. Then who is the real murderer?

According to the statement in the film, many of Kennedy's over-compromise practices during the Cold War aroused the dissatisfaction of the military. For example, in response to the Cuban missile crisis, Kennedy finally chose to withdraw and drastically cut aid to Cuban anti-government forces. In the face of the looming Vietnam issue, Kennedy's strategy is to avoid all-out war as much as possible. All this is obviously unwilling to see the military fortunes of war. As a result, under careful planning, Kennedy's death became sudden and logical.

There are three main pieces of evidence supporting Garrison and Oliver Stone's views;
First, deny the official report. The official report insisted that there was only one killer, and both live video and witnesses confirmed that the source of the bullet was more than one. Moreover, numerous eyewitnesses have confirmed that the reports provided by the authorities are inconsistent with their statements at the time. The official report has become full of loopholes and is not enough to be believed.

Secondly, blame the high-level government. Only an hour after the assassination, the police claimed to have arrested the suspect, and only a few hours later, the only suspect was shot and killed in broad daylight, with dozens of police onlookers. No matter how it looks like a long-planned performance. There is only one purpose, to conceal the real murderer and escape the eyes of the public. Only high-level government officials can mobilize the police and the news media on such a large scale to cooperate. At the same time, during the investigation, almost all the insiders had inextricably linked with the government.

The most important thing is the theory of motivation. Who profited from the death of Kennedy? Kennedy's successor, Vice President Johnson, announced the deployment of a larger force to Vietnam shortly after he was sworn in, which led to the escalation of the Vietnam War. This is precisely in line with the position of high-level military hardliners. Judging from the theory, the military has enough motives to assassinate Kennedy. Another argument is that the military can use this to blame the Cuban government and accuse Castro of sending people to assassinate secretly, using this as a handle to fight Cuba.

However, these arguments are unbelievable. Anyone who has been born on July 4th should know Oliver Stone's dissatisfaction with the Vietnam War and the government. This JFK is also built on this kind of dissatisfaction. Supporting the above inference is a conspiracy theory. First of all, it is certain that the assassination of Kennedy must be a conspiracy. From this point on, all the statements of the government, the military, the CIA, and the FBI are no longer believed, and even have suspicious motives.

On the other hand, although Kennedy successfully resolved the Cuban missile crisis, his attitude on the Vietnam issue is questionable. After all, during his tenure, the US military in Vietnam increased from 800 to 18,000. The Kennedy's upcoming withdrawal plan from Vietnam mentioned in the film is but a guess that cannot be verified by the outside world.

Even as the movie says, Kennedy’s death was a conspiracy planned by the military, and the real murderer of Kennedy’s assassination was by no means just the hardliners of the military. From a larger perspective, Kennedy should be regarded as the victim of the coldest war in human history. This war on ideology did not originate from Truman's speech, it originated from the lack of tolerance in each of us. To put it more inappropriately, every American is the culprit in the murder of Kennedy.

Forty years have passed, and today's Americans still believe that with their theories, strength, and power, the United States can reshape the face of the rest of the world without paying too much attention to their own social and cultural differences. From this point of view, the mentality of American policymakers today is not much different from that of their predecessors 40 years ago. The dilemma in Iraq made them finally realize that it is easy to win the war and how difficult it is to carry out social reforms in a completely different country. Like Kennedy and his successors, Bush still stubbornly reflected on its failure from the level of plan management and execution, without considering the legitimacy of the plan itself.

It was the Cold War mentality that killed Kennedy 40 years ago. Forty years later, the real murderer is still at large, but he changed his name to terrorism.

    If it hadn't been for the cold card, I wouldn't have the courage to finish such a long film. Idealism is always desirable, but the truth is often cruel. The individual is always the fine sand in the historical river, but the pebble is so beautiful. It is precisely because of this moment of total self-sacrifice that history is meaningful.

    Three and a half hours to talk about the past, it’s over. It’s vulgar to say that the last speech is quite nb.

JFK quotes

  • Jim Garrison: Back, and to the left... back, and to the left... back, and to the left.

  • White House Man: We have to control the intelligence from Saigon.

    Lyndon B. Johnson: Well don't let McNamara start sticking his damn nose in this thing! Every time he goes over to Saigon on some fuckin' fact-finding mission, he comes back and just scares the shit out of the President! Now I want Max Taylor on him night and day, like a fly on shit. Now you control McNamara, and you control Kennedy.
