Movie: "Fantastic Brush"

America / Drama / 2012

Length: 102 minutes

Plot: The hero Rory Jensen is a writer, but his writing career has encountered a bottleneck. Not only has he not produced any excellent works, but even his livelihood may be a problem. On one occasion, Rory found a worn manuscript in an old briefcase he had harvested at an antique store, which was filled with novels based on a 1940 Paris love story. Rory was attracted by the content of the novel, and republished it, won numerous awards, and became a famous author in American literature.

However, the turmoil was just about to start at this time. The original author of the novel, an old man from Paris, found Rory and told him that the story in the novel was written by himself. The old man and his wife fell in love at first sight when they were young and soon got married and had a daughter, but unfortunately their daughter died unexpectedly soon after birth. The heartbroken old man wrote a novel on a manuscript in grief, but was accidentally killed by his wife forgotten in the train car...

After watching: The whole film is expressed in the form of "now" and "memory" interspersed. When telling the story of Paris in the 1940s, it also specially selected film to shoot, which has a very retro flavor.

The rhythm of the plot is relatively tight. The male protagonist went from obscurity to fame, and then met the original author of the novel, an old man from Paris. In the old man's memory, he could have lived a happy life with his wife and daughter, but all the good fantasies were no match for the devastation of reality. From the death of the daughter, the departure of the wife, to the loss of the manuscript, one blow after another. But in the end, when the old man and the male protagonist met many years later, they did not have the decadence they imagined after being defeated by reality, but instead had a peace of seeing through the world. He also did not use any means to force the male protagonist to admit the truth of the manuscript, and still lived a calm and calm life.

At the beginning of the film, the male protagonist devoted himself to creation and wanted to become an influential writer in the history of American literature, but the truth was not as he expected. Just like many people who like to write, like to draw, and pursue creation, they hope that their works can be recognized by the public, and they will never bow their heads to their dreams, and they will not accept a job that can support themselves but don’t love them. But how many people are there? Can you hold on to the end? If the male protagonist hadn't picked up the novel manuscript and became famous in one fell swoop, would he have chosen to give up writing under the double pressure of life and his girlfriend?

Summary: This movie actually has the feeling of a "book in a book". When we have not realized our dreams, will we bow to reality first? How do you deal with all kinds of setbacks in your life? Every choice you make when things happen will subtly affect your later life.

If you are a friend who loves to write, remember to watch this movie~
