Living in the moment

In the unfamiliar and famous town of Providence, walking out of the art gallery, I encountered heavy rain. I took a break in a low-key cafe/cinema hall on the street to take shelter from the rain. It was a coincidence, just in time for the beginning of the play. The performance of the characters inside is so good, so real, vivid, and not artificial at all. Without the youthful atmosphere and publicity of Miramax, it can be so real and moving. Although I feel that the plot is not very full, the male protagonist's psychological development is a bit jumpy, and the ending is a bit hasty-but the overall situation is still very perfect.

Living in the present is not because we want to be drunk today. But for tomorrow, we can still live a wonderful life because of the paving of the moment.

The Spectacular Now quotes

  • Sutter: You think beauty's in some classroom or some textbook, and it's not. That's not what it's about. This right here. This is beautiful. All of this. That's all you need.

  • Cassidy: But you can't go around having fun all the time. You have to be serious.

Sutter: I am serious. I'm one hundred percent serious!

    Cassidy: About what?

    Sutter: About... *not* being serious!
