The way to find a child

Judi Dench interprets a calm, restrained, and forbearing love, and tears welled up several times during the viewing process.

The film is based on true events. The heroine, Philomena, was sent to a monastery by her father after she became pregnant out of wedlock because she stole the forbidden fruit when she was young. After the nun delivered her birth, she stayed in the convent to work as a laundress, so-called atonement. There are many children in the monastery of unwed pregnancies. The fact is that these children will be sold to wealthy people from the United States as adopted children. Philomena's son Anthony, best friend in the convent was Mary, and they could not be separated for a moment. It is precisely because of this that when the Americans came to take Mary, Anthony was also taken to the United States because he was unwilling to be separated from Mary. For fifty years after that, Philomena never saw her son again.

By chance, Philomena's daughter met Martin, a senior adviser who had been sacked by the government, who had worked for the BBC. At his daughter's request, Martin decided to go with Philomena to find Anthony. They went to the convent first, but the nun said all the archives were destroyed in a fire. So they went to America together. Martin learned from the Internet that Anthony changed his name to Michael and died in 1995. Philomena just wanted to know if Anthony had missed her. So they began to search for Anthony's former colleague, his sister Mary. They learned from their mouths that Anthony was a former senior legal adviser to Presidents Bush and Reagan, that he was gay, died of AIDS, and had a same-sex partner, Pete. Philomena listened to all this calmly. At each of them, she would ask, "Did he mention Ireland?" The answer was no. Philomena was disappointed.

Through a photo on the Internet, it was found that Martin had worked on the same occasion as Anthony, when he was a reporter and Anthony was a legal adviser to the government. Meanwhile, Martin discovered through another photo online that Anthony has been wearing a brooch of Kate's harp from Ireland. This convinced Philomena to finally agree to see Pete again. At Pete's house, they saw Anthony's growth through video, and were surprised to discover that Anthony had been to the monastery before his death. But Pitt said the monastery told them that his mother had abandoned him. Filomena said that when she went to the convent, the nuns told her they couldn't find Anthony at all. But the truth is, according to Anthony's last wishes, he was buried in the monastery, which he said was his home. After a full circle and back to the starting point, Philomena and Martin went back to the monastery.

As a reporter, Martin found out why the nun had to lie all the time. The nun said coldly that they deserved it, that they could not control their desires and were atonement. Martin was furious, but Philomena said to the nun, "I forgive you." She told Martin that this was not the end of the matter. Choosing to forgive was the most difficult decision. She also agreed with Martin to publish her story to let more people know what happened.

The monastery was supposed to be a place of redemption, but the dirtiest and most inhuman things happened there. Philomena can choose to forgive, but Martin and we as viewers can't forgive the actions of these sanctimonious people who let a mother miss the life of her child.

This is the second time I've watched a movie with a similar theme. Could it be that Ireland is really such a country where there are all kinds of tragic events between parents and children?
