better than the original

Briefly write about the improvements made to the screenplay over the original:

1. Detailed description of defense lawyers. Including family environment, physical condition, personality characteristics, etc., especially the addition of the maid role, substituting a few paragraphs about secretly smoking cigars, secretly drinking brandy, and refusing to take a break from injections, which adds a little bit to the role of a rigorous and serious lawyer. Playful and cute.

2. The defense of the court has been enriched. There is very little reference to this in the original work, and the sentence "defense lawyers pointed out some contradictory points" was passed over. In the movie, the three scenes of the police chief, the housekeeper, and the defendant's wife are wonderful. Especially in the two scenes between the housekeeper and the defendant's wife, the housekeeper successfully defeated the lawyer in the first half of the episode with the TV being sent for repair, and the lawyer in the second half made a comeback due to her hearing impairment. The wife's revolt was put in the courtroom as the testimony of the prosecution witness. It was really powerful. The little trick before the lawyer read the letter is also a classic, but unfortunately it was played by the defendant's wife.

3. The ending. This ending is a bit biased towards the compromise made by the film for "political correctness", with the male protagonist cheating and betrayal, and his wife killing the male protagonist with a grudge, so that the truth is revealed and no one escapes legal sanctions. It's really better to follow the treatment in the original work, let the male and female protagonists go unpunished, and the lawyers meet by chance one day, pouring out the suspicions in their hearts, and the doubts suddenly open.

At the end of the movie, I thought about it, and the heroine did not make a single perjury throughout the whole process. Then I went to inquire about the life of the heroine, and my mood can only be summed up in the words of the barrister at the end: "What a remarkable woman!"

No movie deserves five stars if it's not a perfect score.

  • Sir Wilfrid: [getting progressively more agitated] The question is, Frau Helm, were you lying then, are you lying now, or are you not in fact a chronic and habitual LIAR!
