The surprises of the 2016 cartoons for me are "Zootopia" and "Pet". The success of "Zootopia" is that it targets a wide range of audiences, while "Pet" currently seems to be aimed at the audience. Always just kids. The surprise of "Pet 1" is to use the unique perspective of pets to narrate. In the second season, you will find bugs in this world: a world dominated by pets, and humans are like fools (Wolf and tigers appear in the city? Does anyone care)
"The Pet" is creative in character creation, but unfortunately the plot structure is a bit loose. This season is divided into 3 storylines that intersect: Max and Rooster, the Gidget bee event, Snowball and Hu. I really like the story line of Max and Rooster. Rooster's image is rich in shaping. This part is actually a bit Brokeback Mountain. I refer to Rooster's feelings for Max.
There are two highlights in this season. First, the screenwriter paid attention to pet psychology, which is a problem that is often encountered and ignored in real life. Second, the plot of Max getting along with the little master. I thought the plot would go down based on these two points, but it didn't, inexplicably joined the Snowball and Hu storyline. I really think that only the two storylines of Max+Rooster and the little master are enough this season. Hu's storyline feels that it is only to retain the child audience.
The theme of this season is growing up. I saw it in Max and the little master, and I look forward to seeing it in Hu, but no, Hu is like a cat from beginning to end, and the fierce image of a tiger becomes a pet. What I was expecting was Hu roaring at the villain. The most outrageous thing is that Hu ended up living in the city. New York.
The first 25 minutes are used to pave the way for these three story lines, and then I start to look forward to when these three will come together. 20 minutes before the end of the film, all the characters finally get together, and then it ends in a hurry. It is definitely the screenwriter's fault that "The Pet 2" is not exciting enough.
There should be a third season of "The Pet". If there is a third season, I guess it will start the love story of Max and Gidget, and Rooster and Max will meet again. If the screenwriter can establish the logic in real life in the pet world, this will definitely be a high-scoring cartoon.
