An independent woman living in the moment, is the ending a suicide or a homicide?

Before watching it, I was attracted by the introduction:

A widow who lost her husband unexpectedly, a woman who has both sides among men.

Since I participated in a film sharing session, I heard some interesting points:

The director's own handling of love is intriguing. Because of his own experience, he does not believe in love, but he is completely obsessed with the establishment of Maria's character in the film.

Moreover, the "fence-style lens" is used in the film, whether it is through a real fence, a window, or deliberately allowing the light to appear vertically and horizontally.

At the end of the film, when the heroine learns that the businessman who loves her deeply and resolutely left all her property to her and her husband after her death, the first thing she does is to go to the bathroom and let the water flow through her wrists. The scene is like cutting a wrist and bleeding. This also paved the way for the subsequent arson suicide.

In fact, I still have reservations about whether to commit suicide: I thought it was a lack of safety awareness at first, but there is also a close-up of the heroine who remembers to turn off the gas when she goes out, so in the end, it seems very abrupt to ignore the gas.

For this character, I think it will leave a deep impression in the future; a Gone with the Wind, even if she becomes a "widow" and everything goes wrong in her life, she can still manage her emotions very well, and she can manage her emotions well among men who want to live together. She has both sides; even after her husband's return, she still does not give up her existing good life and works hard to manage it. For most of the first part of the film, I see a strong woman who is independent and needs close contact with men.

Isn't she a bad woman? No, she is strong, independent, and charming, but I don't know why I really like her Is it really love him or is it just a piece of marriage and inner longing?
