love this movie

I used to see a story in Hitchcock's suspense stories that is very similar to him. It tells the story of a daughter who took her mother to Paris, and then her mother disappeared! This movie is a bit similar to that story. A teenage girl who doesn't like her fiancé but wants to get married meets an old woman who calls herself a governess on the train. The two enjoy talking and becoming friends! But when the girl woke up, she found that the old woman was gone, and the people around her also denied the existence of the old woman for one reason or another! Just after the girl denied herself and thought she made a mistake, she found the handprint left by the old woman on the glass of the train and was convinced that she was normal! Afterwards, through a series of investigations, not only did he find the old woman, but he also foiled a conspiracy and gained love! Compared to Butterfly Dream, this movie is much lighter! The irony of the indifference of the British is just too good

The plot of the first half hour was procrastinated at first, but I didn't expect that the first half an hour was more powerful as I got to the back; the middle half an hour was psychological + suspenseful, shining; finally, the gun battle on the small train that walked alone was still exciting.

The classic Hitchcock-style MacGuffin, the first 30 minutes are hard, and the hour after that is too Hitchcock! ! ! Comfortable!

The Lady Vanishes quotes

  • 'Mrs.' Todhunter: ln that first careless rapture of yours you said you didn't care what happens.

Mr. Todhunter: My dear, you must think of it from my point of view. The law, like Caesar's wife, must be above all suspicion.

'Mrs.' Todhunter: Even when the law spends six weeks with Caesar's wife?

  • Caldicott: People just don't vanish and so forth.

    Charters: She has.

    Caldicott: What?

    Charters: Vanished.

    Caldicott: Who?

    Charters: The old dame.

    Caldicott: Yes.

    Charters: Well?

    Caldicott: Well, how could she?

    Charters: What?

    Caldicott: Well, vanish.

    Charters: I don't know.

Caldicott: That just explains my point. People don't just disappear into thin air.
