1. Ambiguous
We all agreed that the scenes of Master Ye and Ruo Nan were very strange, especially after the second brush.
Did the ambiguity happen?
The most intimate action between the two was when Ye Wen cut Ruo Nan's hair on the bus.
A man cutting a woman's hair is one of the most intimate acts in any era or scene (except the barbershop).
"Youth of You" Xiaobei shaved Chen Nian's head, which is a kind of feeling that you have me and I have you. If Nan and Master Ye met for the first time, they could be so close.
If Master Ye was 20 years younger and the movie was shot like this, it would definitely be love. What happened before the intimate action? In a word, heroes save beauty.
This was Ye Wen's most lively fight scene, he kept pressing his palms to hold the scene. Deterrence does not work, just hit. The way of fighting is also very interesting, pulling ears, pinching nose, bouncing the brain, pumping the butt, crushing strength and showing mercy. However, Ye Wen's arm was injured here, and in the final battle, he was attacked by Agins because of this weakness.
The hero saves the beauty and is honorably injured. This is usually a drama written for the hero and heroine with love lines.
The second time the two met, it was Ruonan who went to the hotel to deliver a letter to Ye Wen. After Ye Wen opened the door and asked Ruo Nan to come in, not only did he not close the door, but he pushed the door open with his backhand.
There is a saying in China that "a man and a woman live together in the same room". This move has the danger of crossing the border. If the door is not closed, it is not considered a "one room". Master Ye does not close the door. He is well-trained and thoughtful, and is a role model for men.
But on the other hand, what made him think? If the male is a girl as old as his son, he calls him his uncle. There is a difference in seniority between the two, so there is no need to worry about it.
Perhaps, at this moment, he subconsciously regarded Ruo Nan not as a child, but as a woman. Ruo Nan's clothes at that time also had the feeling of a mature woman, with sharp curves.
At the next Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, Ye Qiao should go to see Ruo Nan's performance. When Ruo Nan ran to him to say hello, it was Ye Wen's happiest laugh in the entire film, with Donnie Yen's iconic gums glistening. Not the usual polite smile, but really happy.
Because of an accident, Ruonan didn't do a cheerleading dance. But in fact, after Ye Wen won, she rushed to the stage and danced around Ye Wen.
A core line of "Ip Man 4" was also produced between the two of them - "I am a martial arts practitioner. When I encounter injustice, I must stand up."
Much like in "Ip Man 1", Master Ye answered the words of his wife Zhang Yongcheng.
At the end of the film, the intersection between the two ends at farewell. Ruonan bought the medicine that Ye Wen asked for, and also brought snacks for Ye Wen's son. Master Ye's behavior was also strange. He didn't tell his apprentice Xiaolong to buy medicine, and his apprentices and grandchildren who were more familiar with the United States chose Ruonan instead. When receiving the medicine, Master Ye's hand completely covered Ruo Nan's hand.
If Master Ye is a young man, then the plot lines of Ye Wen, Ruo Nan and Wan Zonghua are very similar to the character relationships in many movies - a young man with a trendy mind clashes with a conservative old man with power, and the young man saves him. The old man's daughter, after a series of ups and downs, the conservative old man finally recognized the young man.
In fact, Ye Wen fell in love with young girls, and there is a certain historical basis.
In "Ip Man: The Ultimate Battle", in which Ye Zhun fully participated and claimed to be the closest to the historical facts, the elderly Ye Wen fell in love with a singer named Jenny after Zhang Yongcheng's death. The first time they met was a hero saving beauty.
Due to the opposition of the apprentices, Ip Man simply moved out of the house rented by the apprentices and went to live with Jenny. Later, Jenny was terminally ill and took the initiative to leave Ye Wen, and Ye Wen once brought Ye Zhun to visit her.
2. Ugly
It is not entirely true that "Ip Man 4" promotes the prestige of our country and promotes Chinese martial arts. The movie clearly shows the ugly state of many Chinese warriors.
The first fight scene in the whole film took place at Ye Wen's house.
The black Billy came to deliver the plane ticket and fought with one of Ye Wen's apprentices. This apprentice seemed to be the strongest apprentice in the martial arts hall, but it ended in a few moves.
There are two identities on both sides of the battle, foreigners vs Chinese, and Ye Wen's apprentice Sun vs Ye Wen's apprentice. The reason for the fight was that Ye Wen's apprentice couldn't understand English and pushed Billy. To say there is no sarcasm, I don't believe it.
The level is not good, and it is arrogant, which is a common problem of most Chinese martial artists in "Ip Man 4".
Master Luo, it is a comedy role to be decent, and a clown to be more precise. The first one goes up, the first one gets beaten down. From the second part to the fourth part, I have no ability, but always have a place. In the Hong Kong Martial Arts Alliance, there is him. In the Chinese Federation of the United States, there is him.
As far as I know, there are still Chinese warriors who have no real ability and can pretend to be a master to deceive people.
Other masters are also limited in their abilities. In the karate challenge, apart from Ye Wen, the most capable female master was the lightest female master, and she was also the only female warrior in the entire film.
It can be seen that in the so-called Chinese martial arts circle, men may be able to fool, but women really have to rely on strength to enter.
The masters refer to the challenge of karate warriors as "disturbing", using the phrase "dare to go to the Chinese Federation". These words seem to belong exclusively to Chinese people, and they are nothing but face, nothing more than fake things on the table, and nothing more than trying to use authoritarian airs to scare others.
And if Ye Wen wins alone, it seems to be a victory for all of them, and it seems to be a victory for the Chinese and Chinese martial arts. The cheers were harsh. At that time, several masters who did not play were greatly relieved, and this breath was clearly captured by Ye Weixin.
As early as in the first part, Ye Weixin criticized this. When Jin Shanzhao was defeated by Ye Wen, he said boldly, "Today the Northern Fist is defeated by the Southern Fist."
Ye Wen corrected him: "You are wrong, it's not the problem of Nanbeiquan, it's your problem."
3. The Master's Killing Technique and Emotional Closed Loop
If there is anything special about "Ip Man 4" as the final chapter, there are probably two points.
One point is that Ye Wen finally broke through the "Wu Virtue" and used the killing technique.
Eye-catching, kicking the crotch, anti-joint, index-pointing in the throat, these are the tricks that Master Ye has never really used in the first three parts. He is a modest gentleman among the warriors, and he is full of grief and anger. When one fights ten, he has never used his nirvana.
On the one hand, it was unnecessary, and on the other hand, he did not learn martial arts to kill.
But he is old, and his fists are afraid of young and strong. The opponent's heavyweight is far beyond him.
Throughout the universe of Ye Wen, Master Ye has never been beaten so badly, lying on the ground for a long time, unable to get up. According to ordinary logic, it was time for the new Grandmaster Bruce Lee to come on stage to kill the enemy, but Master Ye stood up and made a ruthless attack.
After Akins' right eye was slipped, he was punched again, and his vision was damaged due to blood dripping. The crotch is even affected by Master Ye's feet, and I am afraid that he will be cut off from the future. The right arm was broken and deformed, and the throat was attacked by the index, making it difficult to breathe. When he was dragged away, he seemed to be a cripple with his eyes closed, his legs shrunk, his arms drooping, and a blind cough.
But Master Ye was not happy at all, he lowered his head, motionless, and the expression on his face was a little sad.
It may be the helplessness of aging, the helplessness of breaking martial arts, or the helplessness of martial arts practitioners who will inevitably hurt others and themselves.
Winning a GI is not really the end. Bowing your head in sadness is the end of a generation of grandmasters.
Another point is to form a closed loop with the first part.
In "Ip Man 1", Ip Man's wife Zhang Yongcheng was kidnapped to Hong Kong. She cried bitterly in the truck, feeling that her husband was facing a life-and-death crisis, and she never supported him in doing what he wanted to do.
In "Ip Man 4", Ah Zheng always wanted to learn martial arts, but Master Ye went to the United States to find a school for him. In the hospital, Master Ye called Ah Zheng in Hong Kong to apologize and decided to teach him boxing in person.
This is not the spirit of the wolf warrior, nor the righteousness of the nation, but what you can do as you like, it is freedom and individuality.
I like both of these.
It's a pity that there may not be any more A-level kung fu films. In the future, I can only review the demeanor of the old master Ye from time to time, and Master Huang is also worth watching again and again.
