Desperately looking forward, moving forward with a smile

When I saw the slogan "I'm going to sue my parents because they gave birth to me" when it was released in China, I knew what the movie was going to say, and I knew how it would feel to watch it.

Rather than learning about a region and understanding the living conditions of different people, it is better to say that I finally found a resonance for all human beings.

Is Zain twelve years old? Look at the figure, not like, too weak. Look at words and deeds, it is more like, too mature.

Every day I take my younger brother and sister to the street to sell juice. In order to prevent my younger sister from being sold to help my younger sister hide, I took my younger sister to escape before my younger sister was bought. After my younger sister was sold, she was very disappointed with her parents and ran away from home. I rushed out without the slightest hesitation, and when I saw the TV station, I immediately dialed the number and took my parents to court...

When Rahil, a black woman, was arrested and imprisoned, Zain dragged Rahil's child Yonas with the stolen skateboard, and went to the sellers on the street to exchange money, sell drug substitutes to make money, and learn Syrian accent to cheat relief...

These kinds of things remind me of an Indian movie "The Adventurer in the Wardrobe" this year. The powerful survivability displayed in the difficult situation is amazing. If the comedy-style "Adventure King in the Closet" still has a hint of banter, then the image of "Why Home" is as real as a documentary.

Although he knew that he was watching a movie, he still felt that Zain was a real person. He is mature, has his own ideas, and is able to act. He is smart, tenacious, he dares to love, dare to hate, dare to think and dare to do.

Most importantly, Zain has a deep-seated persistence. Just like before, although the chicken was very precious to their family, because it was used in exchange for his sister, he threw the chicken away directly. Just like at the end, his mother brought candy that could make him swallow, but because his mother didn't understand the truth of parenting, he threw the candy into the trash again.

Facing the accusation, Zain's mother cried bitterly in court. She said that she didn't want to do this either, but she couldn't do it. She could only feed the child sugar water because there was nothing else to feed... Hearing these words, I would definitely feel distressed, because you know how much she suffers. But what is the source of all this? It is already very difficult to live by myself, and the child can only drink sugar water when he is born. Then, why should he give birth?

Zain's parents wouldn't understand. Just like Zain's father, he would only say righteously, "sell his daughter so that she can sleep in a big bed", without thinking about why he had to give birth to his daughter when he didn't have a bed for his daughter to sleep in. It's like Zain's mother will only question Zain "why do you hate me so much" and then transform the pain of losing her daughter into the joy of being pregnant again.

For Zain's parents, having a boy can work and earn money, and having a girl can be sold for money. Everything after the child is born revolves around the survival of the two of them. And the two of them thought it was right.

For Zain, it was painful to hear that his mother was pregnant, but for the mother, she was relieved. Of course we can understand her, a new life is a new sustenance. But this kind of sustenance is hers, not her child's. As a child, Zain, the deep sense of powerlessness, either made him despair, or made him fight back. Of course, Zain chose the latter.

We really want to thank Zain, or rather, the director, for bringing this kind of court indictment that doesn't happen in real life to the screen, allowing Zain to ask these words loud and clear, without the slightest concealment.

The situation presented in the movie may be too extreme, but about "birth", it is a problem that everyone should think about. From a broad perspective, there is indeed a law of "the poorer the more students, the poorer the more students are born." The higher the ideological and cultural level, the fewer children they have. Some of these people are too busy to have children or take care of them, or, a deeper reason - life doesn't need children to enrich.

There is a strange view in today's society, such as "no child is an incomplete life". Indeed, when life reaches a certain age, there may be nothing to do if you don’t have children. Having a child is to start a new life experience from the child. If you follow this line of thinking, you will understand why some children feel miserable when they grow up, because parents often impose their own ideals and sustenance on their children.

Some people think that people who don't have children have problems, but in fact, people who blindly have children have problems. If you don’t have children, it’s not that you don’t take it or that you’re not brave enough. It’s that you think about whether you have the ability to bear before you have children. This is the real responsibility.

Does a person have the right to decide his own fertility? This question is difficult to answer. But at least it should be understood that children are by no means a tool to "fight the dullness of life and the fear of old age". As a parent, instead of telling your child, "Is it easy for me to raise you so old?", but first we must understand how difficult it is for a child to come to this world. After all, you didn't ask him if he wanted to be born, he was only born because of your needs.

Zain's last smile was a deep, deep touch. Life is full of suffering and despair, but we still have to go on.

"Passport" represents a kind of "existence". Since it already exists, then, smile and look towards the future.

Capernaum quotes

  • Zain: I want to make a complaint against my parents. I'd want adults to listen to me. I want adults who can't raise kids not to have any. What will I remember? Violence, insults or beatings, hit with chains, pipes, or a belt? The kindest words I heard were get out son of a whore! Bug off, piece of garbage! Life is a pile of shit. Not worth more than my shoe. I live in hell here. I burn like rotting meat. Life is a bitch.I thought we'd become good people, loved by all. But God doesn't want that for us. He'd rather we be washrags for others. The child you're carrying will be like I am.

  • Zain: Life is the biggest injustice.
