Downton Abbey: an elegant old love song for myself

I've been watching the show for ten years, and "Downton Abbey" isn't the best show I've ever watched, or even in the top ten, but it's definitely the show I've rewatched the most. The one-dance farewell that I can recite all the dialogues so far, the painful but extremely stoic back, the father-daughter dialogue about women's happiness and family honor, has been engraved in my mind for nine years, and it has become my love for British and American dramas. First impressions and endorsements of great performance. And so, as the halls filled with the iconic surf-like theme music, the days and nights of the past that were either ecstatic or depressing for the characters on the small screen swept through me like a surf.

The characteristic of the big screen is that countless small screen classics are not acclimatized or even rolled over after being transplanted to the big screen. There must be enough details and sufficient stories to support the length of this image and the movie. And it turns out that, starting from the iconic pseudo-long shot where one object wears all the characters, to the last iconic panorama of the outside of the manor, under the incredible return of all the main creators, Mr. Julian once again used his raw flowers Miaobi restores the most original Downton style. The splendid multi-line narration, the dazzling group portrait acting skills, every character is shining, every emotion is full of sound, the narrative is flowing, the images are splendid, and the apex of clothing, transformation, and Taoism are all swaying. This little story about the turmoil in a teacup upstairs and downstairs of an unremarkable family can still shine on the big screen four years after the end of the final season, and it continues to warm different people in different countries and cultures. It does not depend on appearance. The pure English pronunciation and the incomparably complicated banquet clothes depend on the consistent communication, understanding, integration and change between people. It was it that changed my inherent prejudice against the royal family, the nobility, the servants, and the class; it was also it that made me truly understand what real change was. In fact, when you reach a certain age and have a certain experience, you will gradually understand that the kind of change that is painful and breaking with the past is not real change, but sticking to the beauty of tradition and accepting new choices are real. Change, because the latter has a solid emotional foundation, and all human behaviors must be based on the emotional foundation. Without this foundation, all changes are only false, ethereal, temporary, and willful. Under the tide of the times changing between the old and the new, here in Downton, we have seen that the nobles have honors that nobles need to defend, servants have the extraordinary dignity of servants, women have women's hard-won rights, men have men's obligatory responsibilities, and People with different political views and different pursuits also have their own lives a step away. This may be the true meaning of equality and democracy.

The scene where the ever-present and classic grandma stared at Mary deeply after knowing that she was going to die soon and believed that Downton Abbey is always standing may have brought countless tears to the theater. At that moment, inside and outside the play, it cannot be summed up simply by the word "feelings". It is more about the memories and inspections of those years when everyone who has ever cried and laughed in front of the screen has merged with their own experiences. Seeing the proof of the passage of time from others, and looking back at my past from the joys and sorrows of the people in the play. From this point of view, how lucky I am to be able to watch dramas and movies and record my own time with other people's images!

Fans told the movie, a story in which everyone is vying to be the king and queen licking the dog. It’s quite boring for someone who has never watched a TV show.

It's worthy of the word Grand Finale. Sweet and perfect like an expensive cake, with delicate sparkle from the frosting to the core. After so many years of eating it in conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival, I don't know if it is but it is so moving that it made me squeeze a few tears.

Mrs Hughes: Downton is still standing.

Mr Carson: Elsie, a hundred years from now, Downton will still be standing - and the Crawleys will still be here. And *that* - is a promise.

Mrs Hughes: We'll see, Charlie. We'll see.

  • Anna Bates: Is it always like this?
