The plot of the story is simple. JUDE LAW plays William, a middle-aged man who is proud of his career but his family is in crisis. His wife, Liv, puts almost all of her love on her stepdaughter Bea, who is a little bit emotional. Although they also want to try to change for the family, communicate, see a psychiatrist, a family counselor. But the contradiction is always in a state of disappearing and rising. So when a new face appeared in front of him, William was naturally drawn to it. A story is a story because it is bizarre. A bizarre and complicated relationship begins when William discovers that the Bosmian mother Amira (Juliette Binoche) who catches his eye turns out to be the mother of a thief who repeatedly stole his office.
He began to approach this woman through various means. Let her help you modify your clothes. Be her client, a reliable friend. It seems that because of this new pursuit in life, he also actively faces family problems. Although at this time he is not clear about life is the love of life he wants to chase. The thief then found out that William had been a client of his mother and had come to his house, and he confessed everything to his mother. As a mother who sees her child as her life, prepare to threaten William with a photo of a one-night stand to let her child go. The story is good to see this. The scene after that feels like educating people on how to redeem.
William confessed to his wife about his one-night stand with Amira. Although Liv complained during the acceptance process, he felt surprisingly generous. In the end, everything was at peace. With the help of the Williams, the thief was immune from prosecution. The Bosmian mother and son will eventually return to their own country. William also returned to a peaceful family life.
There are two things that stand out most about the movie.
One, from virtual focus to clear picture processing. This maneuver occurs many times when switching from one scene to another. It seems to be a way of deconstructing life. It is also like "I don't know the true face of Mount Lu, only because I am in this mountain". I can't really see it, so I'm curious and it feels beautiful. But as I got closer, I realized this wasn't what I wanted. Nothing can be done about it. Just like William did to Amira, different cultures and social status doomed the final result of this pursuit.
Two, the prostitutes in the movie. Although the role is not much. But a lot of didactic words came out of her mouth but it was very pleasant. Animals don't talk, because they don't lie. Everyone can be a philosopher sometimes.
PS To say a couple of digressions
, JUDE LAW should have a lot of experience to play the role of William. His own experience is definitely richer than William's. It's fitting to have him play the man with the seven-year itch.
Juliette Binoche, she's always been my favorite French actress. The feeling expressed by that face is very rich and layered. And doesn't get lighter or tasteless with age. If you have the opportunity, you should go and see "Prague Spring" (the film of the novel "The Unbearable Lightness of Life"). Daniel Day-Lewis in the movie is definitely a perfect match for her. I think it's a pity that I haven't seen her "New Bridge Lover".
