I watched "Pride and Prejudice" at home on Sunday, the TV version produced by the BBC in 1995, for 8 hours, I liked it very much, the arrogant and kind-hearted Mr. Darcy.
I remember that I first read Jane Austen's novels back in the 1990s. I should have been in middle school. At that time, I really liked foreign novels, especially after Dickens' tragedy. Austen's words gave me an indescribable feeling. of freshness and pleasure. What is the difference between male and female writers?
After more than ten years, when I look back at the "Pride and Prejudice" TV series, Mr. Darcy was resurrected in the body of an actor, that is Colin Firth. Although he has a particularly handsome appearance, he has sharp edges and corners, and his eyes are so affectionate. Maybe this is an English gentleman.
The first time I saw Elizabeth played by Jennifer Ehle, I was a little disappointed. She was bloated, older, and not particularly beautiful. But halfway through, I have already accepted this Elizabeth, she has a pair of talking eyes, she is in line with the temperament of a woman of that era, and she is a lady.
There are also countless supporting roles in the play, such as the powerful and rustic Mrs. Bennet, the gentle eldest girl Jane, the wise and foolish Mr. Bennet, and the brainless Lydia. . . Every character is interpreted so classic, it is simply a character from the book.
The TV is very finally the original, and some of the dialogue is completely based on the novel, with British humor and sullenness. There are also charming rural scenery. If you look closely, the British countryside in my eyes should be like this.
In Jane Austen's novels, the relationship between marriage and money is so practical, and the relationship between emotion and reason is so delicate, which is exactly the same as modern society, and Elizabeth's lively and strong personality seems to be a model of modern women, I feel in my heart. I thought to myself, this may be the reason why Austen's novels have become popular again in recent years.
This is a novel after all, so Austen can write one happy ending after another, film and TV remakes over and over again, every era has its own Elizabeth and Darcy, and every girl hides Dreams in my heart.
And we all grew up in her novels.
