After reading the book and then watching the movie, the characters are more delicately portrayed than the movie book.
In fact, the protagonists are not the two children, but the father of the children, many of them. The father had an unhappy childhood, but succeeded by his own efforts, so he was as strict with his children as he was with himself. From just learning that the child has been dropped, to familiarity with the environment before the child's exchange, to the real exchange, to the final insight into life. In fact, the biggest change in all this is my father. Dad said "it really is" at first, then "the importance of bloodlines", and finally melted by the warmth. All of this is actually a lesson for many that may never be learned in a lifetime.
Although it is a movie about boiling frogs in warm water, the casual details are often the most moving. It was Hirokazu Koreeda who didn't describe it deliberately. The warmth flowed slowly, and sometimes it stirred up the waves in my heart. The relationship between father and son is indeed a deeper love that cannot be described...
