This movie is really depressing
Irene's world is actually simple, she just wants to beg for food. In Erin's eyes, the body is just a tool, a tool to make a living, so she doesn't feel ashamed, or being raped by her father's friends since she was a child and her father ignores her will cause her to feel that the body should be used in this way. The body doesn't have much awareness. The ones who are really guilty are those who invaded Irene's body. In their eyes, Irene is a bitch, a prostitute and a plaything, and no one understands him and respects him. Can feel how hopeless and lonely Irene is alive
When Erin wanted to end her life, he met Hilby. Hilby just invited her home for the night, just praised her for her beauty, just gave her a little warmth, and made her feel that this was her life. She was willing to give everything for Shelby, even if Shelby was just using her, even if Shelby betrayed her in the end, even if Shelby finally sent her to the guillotine. She was willing to put on formal clothes to find a regular job for Hilby. She thought it would be a beautiful and inspirational love story, but Hilby forced Erin to go into prostitution when she had no money to spend. In my opinion, Hilby at the time was using Irene to make money, and perhaps Hilby didn't know what she was doing. Shelby is evil, so evil that she does bad things herself, she takes it for granted, just like Zhou Lin in "Youth as a Teenager". In order to get rid of her suspicion, Hilby denied on the phone that she had taken the money. Her tone was like an innocent child, but it pushed Erin into the bottomless abyss. But Irene still loves without hesitation. Irene can't understand why her lover is like this, but she still bears everything and hopes Hilby will be happy. Shelby didn't love Irene at all, but just enjoyed someone holding her in the palm of her hand, and someone taking her as the center. It doesn't matter who this person is, it's like Shelby went out and made new friends. She didn't want Irene anymore. When all the new friends left, she returned to find Irene. Shelby was just too lonely, she needed someone to accompany her, and it didn't matter who the person who accompanied her was.
There is a scene where Hilby explains to her aunt that Irene is also helpless, and the aunt means: everyone has a time of helplessness, so everyone will become prostitutes and beggars. Auntie's words are no problem in the eyes of many people, but does Auntie really understand what Irene has gone through? Irene's life is hopeless, she thinks Shelby is his hope, she is for this Little Hope is also struggling to get out of the darkness. It's not that she has not struggled and has not worked hard, but the hope that Irene thinks is the rope that pulls it into the bottomless abyss.
Erin is not the original sin, her father's friend, her father, and Hilby are the original sin. Irene wouldn't have come this far if she hadn't been raped by her father's friend, if her father believed her to protect her, Irene wouldn't have come this far, if Irene fell in love with someone who really loved her and gave her the right direction Irene will not come to this step, if Irene did not encounter perverts when prostitution, Irene would not kill. If Irene is really a complete devil, she will not let the last old man go.
