Recall some of the most impressive scenes in the play
1. David practicing Liszt's "La Campanella" (bell) with Professor Parks in the piano room:
Professor Parks was full of passion: "Come on, David!" he said, tapping the keys hard, "Knock so hard, tap, devil, you imagine the devil, David." David: "I can't Broke the keyboard, didn't you?" Professor Parks: "Liszt broke a lot of keys." David: "Oh, yes yes." He played. Professor Parks sat next to David: "Come on, let out your breath for my useless arm. First memorize the tune, then add the emotion." David nodded frequently: "Ah, add it. Yes, Add it..." Professor Parks: "Do you agree?" David: "Oh, I agree." Playing the piano, he added, "I always agree." Professor Parks: "Is this okay?" David: "I...I don't know, what do you think?" Professor Parks: "Don't forget the music is on the score." David: "On the score, yes. The music is on the score, but... But the feelings aren't there. Oh, the feelings...the feelings are in my feelings." Professor Parks: "You can't sacrifice everything for feelings, keep your balance." David: "Ah, yes, yes Yes, Professor. Is that so?" Professor Parks: "Exactly." David: "That's what I thought. Oh, that's what I thought."
2. David practiced Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto before the performance:
Professor Parks (voice-over): "First movement, starting with the ornamental notes. Bang..." Professor Parks: "Your hands should develop a continuous habitual movement so that you can forget...all the notes Let it come out of my heart, my heart!" David frowned to understand what the professor meant.
A luxurious grand piano, the keys beating vigorously under David's hands.
The old professor stood at the piano and inspired David's imagination: "Don't you like this great chord? You have to tame this piano, David, or it will go wild and not listen to your control! It is a Monster, either you tame it or be swallowed by it!" As soon as the voice fell, a string broke with a "bang". David looked back at the teacher.
Professor Parks laughed excitedly: "Hahaha! Very well played, David!"
3. He was smoking a cigarette butt in the bar, and playing the La's arrangement of Bumblebee with his fingers like an enclave
4. The childhood violin mentioned twice by David's father in the play:
When I was your age, I bought a violin, a beautiful violin. I spent all my savings to buy it. Do you know what happened after that? "
"Yes, your father smashed it," David replied without hesitation.
Peter turned his face to the side and glanced at the photo hanging on the wall behind him: "Yes, he smashed it!"
David was like his father's violin, something he wanted to have all along but destroyed with his own hands.
Music is David's endorphins and dopamine. Fortunately, he was finally able to live as freely as playing La San.
