The story takes place in the United States in 1909. The film "Purple" focuses on the underclass black women in rural America, showing the director's thinking on women's rights and a challenge to the dominance of men in the last century. "Purple" uses black women such as Sealy, Nanti, Suge and Sophia as examples to reflect the group portraits of the black women's feminist awakening at that time, and also criticizes the still existing dark and unbearable patriarchy, and looks forward to the beauty of the new world. Undoubtedly, the biggest change in "Purple" is the heroine Celie. Celie's initial plain description of her father's assault on her is shocking and distressing at the fact of the incest. At this time, Celie was still ignorant. She didn't feel that there was anything wrong with this approach. What was more was the sadness of her newborn child being taken away. This shows that black women were ignorant at that time, unable to dominate their own lives, and never had their own choices. So Celie was ruthlessly brought up to her so-called husband Johnson by her father as if she wanted to play a football, and she undoubtedly entered another hell on earth. There was no wedding, and even as soon as he entered the house, the child left by the husband's ex-wife smashed a blood hole in his head with a stone. Seely's identity in this family is defined by "nanny", which seems to be more appropriate than "hostess". Sally was also ordered by Johnson never to talk back to him, otherwise she would be beaten by Johnson. In Celie's own words: "I don't know how to fight, I only know how to survive." She swallowed her anger and never resisted. In her thoughts, "This life will be over soon, and heaven will bring eternal life." It was her sister Nanti and Sophia, and Xiuge's constant resistance gave her the strength to fight. Nante was driven away due to the attempted rape of Celie's husband. Before parting with Celie, Nanti shouted: "Only death can separate us forever!" Limo's great encouragement. And Sophia's life has been constantly fighting, fighting with her father, fighting with her uncle, fighting with her brother, fighting with her husband, and even fighting against white people, which undoubtedly made the original cowardly Celie's heart shake. . Suger is the last stepping stone to make Celie completely brave. Xiuge taught Celie to dress up, laugh, to be a more beautiful and true self, help Celie get Nanti's letter, let Celie chase her rights, leave Johnson, and have her own life. And Celie did it. At the end of the story, Celie has her own tailor shop, and the business is booming. In a sea of purple flowers, she reunited with Nanti and found her two children. "Purple" tells the audience, especially us women: to dare to fight, to fight for the rights you deserve, to fight for the life you want, to oppose oppression, and no one is born nobler than anyone else. Life is just a few decades, don't go to the end with a paralyzed heart.
