He met an Angel

Totally my cup of tea! Sometimes, I just find these insociable boys so cute and sexy somehow☺️

I would rather name this movie as' He met an angel' cuz I see Beth that way. Being intrigued by someone like Adam comes natural, but the idea of really starting a serious relationship with someone like him does take courage and dedication. Recently, I helped one of my students polish an essay about Autistic Children and I would say this movie really did me a favor for letting me know what these children would go through into their adulthood and providing me a totally different insight to truly relate to their sufferings. While I was watching Adam, I could even feel some of the images that my student described about these 'Star Children' just jump off the movie and wonder around aimlessly in front of my eyes...

I really love Beth for being such a sweet angel and she literally light up Adam's whole world, forging him into a normal man, and a real man. I also 'envy' her courage in certain degree. She comes across as truly compassionate and absolutely not worldly, so rare to see nowadays. She is a sharp constraint to her 'diplomat' father. The interesting thing is I do have some good girl friends who are also born and raised in these similar 'sophisticated' families, yet choose to live their lives in a totally different way, just like Beth in this movie.

The setting in the Central Park also reminds me of some sweet memories and it is exactly the place that I like the most about NY city. Weird as it may sound, it is the best landmark ever for NY in my eyes. Really beautiful in fall and extraordinarily romantic in winter. ☃️☃️

The ending of the story also falls into my type. I always prefer open ending cuz conventional happy together just falls into cliche. Adam finally settles down and lives his life to the fullest in the warm spring of CA, as I see, is also a big contrast to his previous sufferings in the cold winter of NY. And I just LOVE contrast. I see it as a distinct plot of the story.

The lovely letter in the end also comes sweet and I think Adam should really be thankful for all that he has got-thank God for bestowing such an angel to his life, thank Beth for the unselfish and invaluable love, and most of all, thank himself for gradually becoming the man who he is right now...Never comes that easy all way along...

PS When will it snow in Beijing? I am really expecting❄️

Beth Buchwald: Adam, his mother, and his father were a family of talking raccoons that lived in the middle of New York City. They didn't really belong there, but there they were.

  • Harlan: Liars is all you gonna run across in this world. A man's gotta learn the difference between just plain liars and liars worth lovin'.
