Becoming Jane

Watching a movie is watching the photography, editing, the performance of the actors, the skill of the director... Watching a story means ignoring the above and simply focusing on the story itself. There are very few movies that make me focus only on the story, but this one is.

Focusing only on the story left me with a lot less material for commenting. It seems flawed on closer inspection, but the story itself and my love of Jane Austen have completely overshadowed the film's flaws. There is a great scene. When Jane was dancing, she accidentally bumped into Tom. All of a sudden, her whole body lit up, the music lit up, and everything lit up...

The following are feelings, not comments.

I consider Pride and Prejudice my beloved novel, and have read over and over again about its books, movies, series, Chinese, English, and even adaptations. So, when I watched "Becoming Jane", I was very emotional. I don't know if these stories about Jane are true, but at least I hope it is.

Reality isn't perfect, that's what Becoming Jane told me. I tried to look for the shadows of Elizabeth and Darcy at the beginning of the film, and it seemed that I found it but didn't find it... But in a certain way, it corresponds to the sentence: creation comes from life. In real life, Jane's family is more difficult, Tom's situation is worse, and Jane's siblings are not as comfortable as in her characters. More importantly, in real life, Jane has encountered more villains, and the system is better. Be stubborn.

But, in a word, Jane Austen is great, because what she left to herself was pain, and what she left to the world was happiness, and those who loved "Pride and Prejudice" got the blessings she left behind.

"Pride" and "Becoming Jane" were both learned from TV or movies for the first time. Looking at the heroines of these two films alone, I occasionally forgot that Elizabeth was a character from Jane's pen. . But think about it, if the ending of "Becoming Jane" is another, then "Pride" and many Jane's works will also follow. If so, then I'd rather hope that Jane's love is flawed...

"Becoming Jane" - I love this title, I want to be Jane. Her nobility, her sincerity, her passion, her sanity, her beliefs, the decisions she made for her life, her everything. I like her attitude towards true love: true love must not be forced by time, money, system and class, let alone life.

Becoming Jane quotes

  • Judge Langlois: Wild companions, gambling, running around St James's like a neck-or-nothing young blood of the fancy. What kind of lawyer will that make?

    Tom Lefroy: Typical.

  • Tom Lefroy: I have been told there is much to see upon a walk, but all I've detected so far is a general tendency to green above and brown below.

Jane Austen: Yes, well, others have detected more. It is celebrated. There's even a book about Selborne Wood.

Tom Lefroy: Oh. A novel, perhaps?

Jane Austen: Novels? Being poor, insipid things, read by mere women, even, God forbid, written by mere women?.

Tom Lefroy: I see, we're talking of your reading.

Jane Austen: As if the writing of women did not display the greatest powers of mind, knowledge of human nature, the liveliest effusions of wit and humour and the best-chosen language imaginable?
