A story about redemption

The earliest impression of Samuel Jackson came from Quentin's Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. I always thought that his acting skills were quite good. I didn't expect his singing skills to be top-notch. Well, after a long time of nonsense, let’s get down to business and talk about the film itself.

As far as I can see, the whole film is actually a story about redemption, the self-redemption of the black blues musician Lazarus, the redemption of Lazarus to the girl Ley who was sexually assaulted and indulged in her childhood, and the redemption of Lazarus. Zarus and Rye's redemption for Ronnie's boyfriend, Ronnie, who suffers from deep anxiety. Although the process of redemption was not smooth, I still thank the director for giving me a happy ending as a layman.

I haven't been moved by a movie for a long time, but after watching Black Snake tonight, I have the urge to cry. Maybe I was moved by the family affection revealed in the film, maybe I was moved by the true love between lovers, or maybe it was the sad Bruce that brought back memories of my past. All in all, I really liked this movie, and I recommend watching it.

Black Snake Moan quotes

  • Reverend R. L.: Ima tell you something and it's just gonna be between you and me. I think folks carry on about heaven too much, like it's some kind of all you can eat buffet up in the clouds and folks just do as they told so they can eat what they want behind some pearly gates. There's sinning in my heart, there's evil in the world but when I got no one, I talk to God. I ask for strength, I ask for forgiveness, not peace at the end of my days when I got no more life to live or no more good to do but today, right now... What's your heaven?

  • Lazarus: Collar your dog!
