A movie that was overshadowed by the original

Love in Prague. Juliette Binoche appeared in the film at the age of 23. More importantly, the script for "The Unbearable Lightness of Life". Probably too familiar with the novel, so it is clear what necessary plot is missing in the film. Kundera's philosophy is well known, so any changes that are not faithful to the original cannot be forgiven. Franz's ending is not explained; the political rendering is too strong in the film and ignores Kundera's portrayal of human nature; the portrayal of sex cannot play the role of metaphor or character like the novel (of course, maybe It is because the novel itself has the innate advantage of psychological portrayal); what is even more intolerable is that the original book takes love as the clue rather than the theme, but the movie is completely reversed. In all fairness, it's a good movie, but if you've read the original, it's best not to try to relive it in a movie, you'll be disappointed.
Perhaps judging the film by the original is unfair to the film itself. But at least, not so good that the movie itself is worth watching than some more human movies. Generally recommended.

Why did you change the four accidental factors of Thomas meeting Theresa? Why does the pig's feet describe all the psychological activities in the book through the mouth? Why did Thomas lose Lewis' charm like a pervert? Why is the whole film full of light-hearted tunes? Do you think this can reflect the unbearable lightness? And with a Czech dialogue, you will die! Do you know that everyone except Lewis' poor English makes people lose their appetite

Some don't understand. Maybe this movie will have to wait until I mature to understand. It's really a coincidence. Uncle Naoto Takenaka recommended this film when I was watching a variety show during the day. I didn't expect such a film to be hidden in my computer.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being quotes

  • Tereza: [referring to her dog] Karenin prefers Mephisto to dogs. She thinks other dogs are silly.

Tomas: [Mephisto snorts and Tomas inhales the aroma of the food] Ha-ha.

Pavel: Do you know why I love Mephisto? Because he's very bright, but, at the same time,

    [gesturing for emphasis]

Pavel: he doesn't know anything! After all, he doesn't know that life is impossible here now. Nothing left here. The church is gone.

    [shrugging]

Pavel: No place to drink beer now.

[he drinks his bottle of beer very quickly]

    Pavel: It's good... very good.

    [slurping]

Pavel: If you ever change your mind, it won't be easy to leave.

  • Tereza: I was forced to love my mother, but not this dog. You know, Tomas... maybe... maybe, I love her more than I love you. Not more. I mean in a better way. I'm not jealous of her. I don't want her to be different. I don't ask her for anything.
