Dog days

First of all, don't be misled by this simple movie name. In fact, this is not a typical pet movie. It's very different from movies like "Octave Minus" and "Guide Dog Little Q"-so in the recommendation of similar movies, I didn't write a movie about pets. Yes, there is no loyal dog savior in this movie, no dog fights against a bad boss, or even deliberately describing how close the owner and the dog are. This is exactly what I like about this film. The film is actually a family movie about how to build a family and how to choose between career and family. The Labrador named Marley is actually just a symbol that runs through the life of the protagonist: find someone you love , Have a few lovely children, raise a beautiful big dog, own a big house, do a profession you like... Isn’t this the standard American dream? Perhaps it is this kind of plainness that is true, this kind of simple and plain description of the American dream, that can make such a small film win the North American box office of 150 million US dollars. If you are just moved by the last departure of this Labrador, you don't really need to watch this film, presumably "Ten Pledges Between Me and the Dog" will make you cry even more.
After getting married, the protagonist of the film didn't want his wife to make plans for a child right away, so he listened to his friend's persuasion to raise a dog. After all, this man is still in a "child" mentality: his dream is to be an excellent reporter, run around the world, be company with dangers, and write sensational reports. However, the fact is that he inadvertently became a columnist who wrote emotional commentaries-thanks to Marley, who is known as the number one bad dog in the world, his life has been enriched. This guy was expelled from the dog school because he threw down a trainer who believed in "dogs are good in nature", and ran away the little housekeeper who claims to like dogs; he barked when thunder and rain; almost took him out. Jumping out of the car window... As this naughty "evil" dog grows up, the children are born one by one, and the protagonist falls into a panic of a chaotic life. He is worried that he is trapped in this kind of life and will never be able to realize his dreams. ——So I quarreled with my wife and almost made up my mind to send Marley away; so I changed places, jobs, and houses — but I still felt wrong. I was a reporter but missed the time as a columnist who was free to play. Life is really like a person drinking water, knowing it is cold and warm, and the glamour and beauty in the imagination is probably just an illusion-just like Marley, who has brought so many troubles, but finally let you understand that it is still an illusion. Really cute dogs are worth staying with for a lifetime. After the protagonist kept tossing, he finally stopped, relieved, and matured. Marley is also getting old, he is no longer making people, and even ran out alone several times, lying under the tree for a long time, waiting calmly for that moment to come. When the protagonist takes the elderly Marley to the doctor, sitting on the golden field with one person and one dog, with a beautiful sunset in the distance, and occasionally one or two passersby on bicycles, you will feel that they are a family, a couple. Children and friends-no matter what kind of birth, old age, sickness, death, ups and downs, family, friends and a dog, this is the most perfect life.
By the way, friends who like "The Devil Wearing Prada" must watch this film, because they are all the works of a director, and they also have a smooth, interesting and fresh style, with a little irony or a little humor from time to time. In addition, Owen Wilson and Aniston performed very well, although they were still performing in their true colors. Aniston is very old in the film, but it fits the real feeling of the film.

Marley & Me quotes

  • Debby: There were 11 thunderstorms while you were gone, 11, you were right, he doesn't like them and just so you know I am a dog person but that is not a dog, that is evil with a dog face that humps my leg and is peeing on your carpet.

  • Jennifer Grogan: Marley's not allowed to drink out of the toilet, you should just keep him out of the bathroom in general.
