Very good, not worse than the letter from Iwo Jima

Those proud German troops, who came to the Eastern Front from warm Italy, entered the land from heaven. Street fighting in the ruins is too much struggle. And the whole film seems to be the process of these soldiers breaking down and surviving. The last two companions died in the snow, still maintaining the dignity of a soldier. It is very ironic that the incompetence of those German generals almost always appeared in negative roles in the film. Compared with "Iwo Jima", the image of these soldiers in this film seems to be more real, not like the English-speaking and horse-racing Japanese Colonel in "Iwo Jima", which is somewhat literary and a little too showy. I am not very satisfied that the scenes of the war are far less real than "Saving Private Ryan", and the explanation of the war process is not clear, or these are not important, because this is just an anti-war film.

There is no strategizing of the battle, no scheduling of the big scene, just the fate of a team in Stalingrad, and the interspersed narrative in the first half is even a bit scattered. The second half of the journey home was truly thought-provoking. They encountered cruel weather, betrayal of ideals, separation of their families, and ultimately lost their lives, but no one knew the meaning of all this.

The theme of the soundtrack is like Chai Wu, the grandeur on top of restlessness and tension.
