I don't fancy the english name of this movie very much since I don't like the word 'affair'. why is it an affair? neither the man nor the woman was married when they fall in love with each other. The chinese translation is wonderful, telling you what's the story about: a promise.(omg, as soon as I saw the promise, I thought of [Wuji], Chen Kaige is so hateful...)

Maybe I would never watch such an old movie if were not the movie 'Seattle Sleepless', when Meg Ryan and other girls were crying over it again and again. Nevertheless, it's a great movie. And one of the greatest thing in it is that how stupid a man can be, that Cary Grant havn't realized the truth until the very end. Another greatest thing is the ending, not so much a happy ending but it leaves us hope. Perfect!

Haven't shed tears for a movie for long, this one really worths crying.

    A moving good old movie. A few unforgettable scenes: grandma playing the piano, the invisible kiss on the stairs, the heroine singing, the children singing and the final tearjerking scene.
