translates Facing window as external desire, although there is no tension in the film looking at each other through the window, and there is no Qiao
Fanna in the Lorenz looked back at the meaning of the title in his window, but he made it clear what the film wanted to reveal. It's a homonym of "Affair" again, which is of course good from the general clues of the film, but the word "desire" contains too much, so "external desire" has become the title of the film. If you think of the film as a film that only shows or describes the relationship between men and women, I think the deviation may be a little big. The director obviously has the ambition to include both historical legends and real life, and to dye ordinary but not ordinary beautiful desires in ordinary life.

Giovanna's initial distress probably came from
the dilemma that those different life desires could not be realized and were forced by trivial reality. If it wasn't for the careless advice of his free and easy friend Enming Ruowu, I'm afraid that the man who was attracted to each other through the window would not know when it happened. And if she hadn't met the old man with amnesia who was called Simon at the beginning, I'm afraid Giovanna would have become even more unreasonable: making a lot of noise in the store, being mean at work, and showing no mercy when taking in a tired old man . But Simon's advice to Giovanna became her first breakthrough, and the unexpected common language made her start paying attention to this mysterious old man. Looking at Lorenz's eyes in the bar, I believe everyone can see the shock, appreciation, understanding and love in it. And so the tenderness and dreams of our young housewife began to revive. The subsequent development was expected by all of us, but Giovanna's rationality and warmth suppressed the passion to the end, and only confirmed in my heart that she had found love for the second time. The skills and inspiration given to her by the old man whose real name is David has become the spiritual guide of Giovanna's new life.

When I first started watching the film, it was a little strange, why this impatient and unpleasant heroine can
get enough attention, the old man Simon (actually David~) and her gradually have so much communication, whether it is
Linguistic and spiritual. Later, I gradually understood that it was actually because David and Giovanna were really the same kind of people, and Giovanna's husband Philip, who was like a big child, had been out a long time ago. . David is a famous baker in Europe. In his life, there is probably no obstacle to the pursuit of career. What made him depressed all his life was a more secret emotion and desire. And Simon's unspeakable tender and firm love was lost in a night of weighing life and love. As a result, that kind of bone-piercing sting bites David all his life. I think if I make the second choice, David will still choose the lives of most people, and then when he gently dances with Giovanna, a little housewife who is very similar to him, he reminisces about years ago, when he secretly glanced at the dance floor Simon's faint joy and smile. Therefore, at the end of his life, he will sit in the gorgeous pastries that have surrounded him all his life, urging Giovanna to choose to realize her desire, the life that he has no choice.

The tension of the film is really rich. The director inserted an unresolved mystery of his life into the trivial and monotonous life, which
makes people addicted at first. Curiosity is aroused in voyeurism, and then it turns out that voyeurism in this story is two-way, and the emotional flow has long been unconscious. . . Repetition and variation make the film more full and ready to come out. Are the desires of half a century ago any different from the desires of today? Love, ideals... are interspersed and paralleled in the bizarre experiences of the previous generation and the ordinary life of this generation, which are complicated. If David's experience is a purely noble and beautiful dream, then Giovanna is in the dream and reality. An ignorant husband, a free and easy friend, a childish child, an affectionate lover... David defended the love for a lifetime and the pain of regaining and losing is one of the reasons for Giovanna's change. Interestingly, such beautiful dreams and desires are still alive and well. Looking at Giovanna's youngest daughter, Martina, at a young age, she already knew what she liked, what she didn't like, and what rights should be upheld. Even her mother's authority was not afraid at all. It was really the first calf of David and Giovanna. Not afraid of the tiger version. (Oh, it may be too early to say, but little Martina is really a very high-spirited character in it.)

The use of montage is the most attractive part of this film. Amnesia and Memories, Reality and Legend, Reality and Dream
Magic, with the loose and tight rhythm of the film, the splicing of different time and space is connected in series. There are four of the best parts. One is that David saw the woman running on the street, the girl holding the doll (I always suspected that the little girl was the fat aunt who was taking care of him), the back of Simon walking forward, and finally stopped in front of the rolling door and sat down in pain . It's about time. The second is that David invited Giovanna to dance, walked through another room, and saw the gentle dance floor half a century ago. This is another interplay of time and space. The third is that Giovanna looked back at her home from Lorenz, her husband Philip, children, friend Enming, and the smoker himself. It is not clear how much is true and how much is false, but they can deeply experience Giovanna's contribution to the family as a whole. Feel the warmth. The fourth is the close-up of David when he was young that appeared at the beginning, and did not explain too much of the plot. The suspense was revealed in David's chaotic memory at the end, and the content of the eavesdropping was followed by the close-up at the beginning - it was finally complete.

Back to the beginning. Facing window is actually not only a specific scene in the film, but also an
image of a person's life peeping at his desire for life. I don't know how many people will be interested in these actually very small fragments of life? Dig deeper, love, friendship, the dislocation of ideals and reality is the most profound and cruel experience in a person's life. There is no too grand theme, but it can be thrilling and makes me cry for David's lifelong regret.

PS Yesterday someone mentioned Japan's "Like Asura", which is also a small piece of life, trivial life, emotional entanglements, and the suffering of the elderly. It's just that the form of light comedy pays more attention to revealing the interaction between relatives and lovers, and this "Facing Window" puts feelings in a prominent position. Both films are worth recommending, and I prefer this one.

Also, from 11:00 pm to 1:00 pm, crossing the cold streets of Shanghai at night is really a wonderful way to express emotions. The street is very wide, enough for people to lick the grievances in life, and then sip slowly
, and they will never suffer from indigestion the next day.
