A Journey of Futility - Watch "Girl with a Pearl Earring"

A colleague developed photos from a digital camera and scanned them into a computer a few days later. I looked at her in amazement, and then I thought about it: what is the difference between making a novel into a movie and reverting the movie into a film review text?
From A to B, from B to C, we experienced a futile journey along the way.
"Girl with a Pearl Earring" is adapted from a novel, the heroine is the maid Grief.
Let's take a look at the four men who surround the heroine:
1. Greer's father is a simple painter. He is old, blind, and unable to make money. As a daughter, he has to be a maid. In the spring of 1997, I also left my father like that, standing in a city with no relatives.
2. There is nothing good about being a maid. The key is to be a dedicated maid. Cut onions when you cut onions, and cut kale when you cut cabbage. Simple mechanical labor is best suited to thinking and fantasy. As another home intruder, low-key infiltration is always more difficult to guard against. I am determined not to praise them because they are all selfish. The original book says that when the painter was old, he borrowed the painting that had been sent to the dealer, so what does that mean? She is nothing but a beautiful pawn, a pawn scattered over the artist's game. Sometimes when you're dressed up, you're mentally prepared, and you practice your facial expressions and body language, and love hits. By the time you have enough time to calm down and deal with it, love is gone. So I can only recall those fragments in the dark, at a certain moment of peeling potatoes, and imagine using an eraser to gently wipe away those imperfect performances.
An attempted fornication on the body was deeply branded into the soul.
Looking at the clouds, she imagined how to love with content, breaking through the stylized single pale like a cloud, and restoring richness and splendor.
For example, in "Piano Lesson", the heroine only likes the piano at the beginning. As a kind of transaction, she must have sex with the owner of the piano before she is allowed to play the piano. Over time, she falls in love with him.
For example, young women in literature began to like only Pushkin, and gradually fell in love with the man who talked to her about Pushkin.
She was looking out the window when another maid beckoned her in. The voyeur, finally quietly exited.
The painter was many years older than her, which gave her a sense of familiarity and home. What better reason to love art and love fathers? Is there anything deeper than that?

3. In contrast, the romance with the butcher's son Peter was just a piece of cake. Although it was a side dish, it was a vegetable for life. Running in love, holding a candle and running wildly on the embankment at night, she ran past the wooden boats, ran through the night, ran into the vulgar tavern, took Peter's hand to a secluded place, and kissed with the passion of a virgin, Intercourse, the tooth marks and bruises on the neck are looming in the darkness. This is what I want to praise, this is the flying humanity. Hair, she wouldn't show Peter her hair. When the painter ordered her to take off her hat, she complied. The butcher's son, there is nothing wrong with being the butcher's son, and Kafka is just the butcher's grandson. If you are the son of a butcher and have long hair, you will be proud.
When I saw the ending of the movie, I was always a little unwilling in my heart. In the movie, the butcher's son Peter was not explained. In the original book, he had a lot of love, and he finally married his beloved girl: the maid Greer.
4. Look at the rich businessman, the arrogance and domineering that money gives him, the rich always think that the world is him: women, talents, dignity, nothing can't buy.

Look at two more small characters I like:
she is not the eldest of the painter's six children, but the most cunning child, a liar, trampler, informant, and the mortal enemy of the maid Greer, but. Gently hook the plot, stealing and peeping.
The painter's mother-in-law is the painter's best economic person, who appreciates him and understands him. It is said that she is also a pawn in these chess games. An accomplice, she's an accomplice in a secret romance.

Later, I learned that the digital camera is not my colleague's own. She didn't save those files after developing the photos. She wanted to send them to distant friends, so she had to scan them again. What seems like a futile journey is actually the only way to go, just like someone who decides to write about how they feel after seeing this movie.

Girl with a Pearl Earring quotes

  • Van Ruijven: So, have you decided what to do up next, Jan? Have you found inspiration up in that room of yours? Is there another patron in Delft with pockets as deep as mine?

  • Vermeer: [Describing his newly arrived Camera Obscura] See this? This is called a lens. Beams of reflected light from that corner pass through it, into the box, so that we can see it here.

    Griet: Is it real?

Vermeer: It's an image. A picture made of light.

Griet: Does the box show you what to paint?

    Vermeer: It helps.
