who cares about the truth

These days, I have watched too many war movies, so that the grand scenes, touching truths, and brutal killings—these instincts have become the most advantageous magic weapon for war movies, can no longer stimulate my senses. After watching "Saving the Privates", "Band of Brothers", "Flying the Tai Chi Flag", etc., etc., I think that I have reached the level of "antibody" for such movies. Just under this mentality, I watched "The Banner of the Fathers". I don't like to judge a movie as good or bad - because it's not fair to the creators who focus on a certain movie - and only use "would be a shame to miss it". And this movie is one of those movies that you don't want to miss.
This is a dull war movie. Even after watching 40 minutes, I couldn't tell who the characters were, let alone the plot, so I fell into a drowsy state for a while. But with the revelation of the truth about the "flag planting incident", the film uses a slow tone, making people more and more addicted to it.
I don't see anything like that about the meaning of war in the film - the old cowboy didn't show any biased views just because he was American. War is war, whatever its purpose, it is equally cruel and ugly. Just like the "flag planting event", behind the heroic halo, this is just a "show". The military needs this show because it will make it easier for them to get war money; the politicians need this show because it will make them look more righteous; the public needs this show because they need "heroes" to satisfy their fiery and extreme "patriotic" zeal and determined how much their investment in the war (by buying government bonds to support it) was worth it; and the "heroic" mothers who wanted their sons to die well , has a great significance that is heavier than Mount Tai... It cannot be arbitrarily believed that the various purposes hidden behind this show are distorted, but from the birth of that "photo", everything is destined to be sad. This is a flag that has been re-planted. When the flag was planted, the surrounding area was not in a fierce battle. The seemingly arduous process of planting the flag was just a premeditated snapshot of the reporter. As the shutter was pressed, everything was frozen in place. that moment.
Don't use the words "desire" and "interest" to evaluate anyone, and don't say that so-and-so is mean, so-and-so is hypocritical, because everything is nothing more than a fact that is beyond reproach! The truth is the truth, the hidden truth is the truth, and even the purpose behind the truth is the truth. In other words, as long as you are willing to believe, what you receive is the "fact", and if you want to live better, you must learn to face and accept the fact. The tragic fate of the chief stemmed from his unwillingness to accept the "facts". At the end of the film, after the family took a photo with him and someone gave him money, he just responded with a dull expression, sympathizing with him, this sad man , in the end only "natural death". And Rena didn't see the facts clearly. When he knew that he was not a hero, he was carried away by vanity. When the prosperity passed, the only thing left for him in life was the cold world. In contrast, the doctor has always been calm, the horror of war and the halo of heroism have not blinded him, he accepts the truth, whatever it is, and lives on. Although as he was dying, what he said showed that the war had cast a shadow on his life, but he faced it, so he survived.
Let's get back to the topic, who cares about the truth? ! After watching the film, I once felt chilled and sighed by the reality contrasted with the truth, ashamed for the politicians and businessmen who were greedy for profit, and sad for the blindly obedient public... But on second thought, it is not that no one cares about the truth, but every Everyone believes that what they believe is the truth. Perhaps those politicians and businessmen, for the sake of profit, naturally believe that what they make up is the truth. But isn't that the case with others? ! Instead of thinking that the masses are blind obedience, think that they are willing to believe that heroes really exist, even if it is only for their own inner needs. And those mothers, if you let them know that their sons were accidentally killed by their own guns on the battlefield, wouldn't it be worth it if the truth of this piece was not? ! Therefore, I no longer want to guess what the theme of the old cowboy is this time, but prefer to regard the film as a process of revealing the truth of a historical event. But does what you see have to be the truth? Or do you just believe this is the truth? !
