I finished watching the recent hit movie "The Veil" in a hurry. Of course, it was a lie to say that I didn't have high hopes, not to mention that I have always had a deep affection for Somerset Maugham. His autobiographical novel "The Shackles of Humanity" once excited me for a while. And the hero and heroine of the movie are all my favorites. Norton has a very wonderful temperament. Although he is an American, he is definitely a gentleman. Although he seems weak, he has tenacity and stubbornness. Since the movie "First Degree Fear", he has been showing off his splendor, and he has performed the image of a conservative, deep and taciturn scholar very well. As for the actress, let me not say anything else, just a pair of blue teary eyes makes my heart move, and I am fascinated by it. The feelings between them have changed from strangeness to separation, from betrayal to life and death. There is no sensational crying, and some are just looking at each other, and even the pain has become forbearance and restraint, without any publicity. Only such a movie can easily reach a climax at the end, bursting out with infinite love and loss. This is the same as stewing soup. It should be slowly tormented on a slow fire, without deliberately, the feeling of fragrant fragrance will come out naturally in the end. I really liked their first meeting at the banquet at the beginning of the film. The heroine wears delicate eye makeup and elegant costumes, floating proudly in front of Norton's eyes. This scene reappeared in the momentary rewind when the relationship between the two returned. It makes people unable to bear the tenderness tossing in their hearts. I also like the scene at the end of the film. When she meets her former lover with low morals and betrayal on the street many years later, she can greet him calmly and solemnly, and when the other party sends out a provocative invitation, it implies the possibility of a revival of old love. At that time, she resolutely said goodbye. Here, I see the successful transformation of a selfish and coddled girl into a mature and stable woman, natural and smooth.
There are still a few things I want to say about this movie. One is that I don't understand why the French theme song has to be mixed in with Supergirl, which is very uncomfortable. There is also a movie set in a remote rural area in China, like the Guangxi area. Green hills and green grass, great rivers and mountains are good shots, but the pictures of our Chinese peasants are too horrible to see, each one is more difficult and terrifying than the refugees, two big stars, dressed in well-dressed one stop there, it is even more polar Differentiation, black and white, this is also vaguely uncomfortable.
All in all, it's a pretty successful movie, another win-win for Maugham's novel and film adaptation. I learned the word "win-win" from Super Girl. The first time I heard it was that it was a win-win between Super Girl and Mengniu Group. . .
