The sound in the film, in a narrow sense, refers to the dialogue and background music. Today, with the popularity of soundtracks, its role is becoming more and more important. But it was probably considered redundant at the time, at least [hole] thought so. Jacques Baker was concerned with images that could be amplified by sound, and in the [hole] this was treated as "focus". When a large number of short shots and close-ups cannot fully describe the meaning of the image, Jacques Baker, inspired by his genius, uses the "sudden sound" brilliantly. For this treatment, Jacques Beck never tires of it, and uses it many times in the [hole], and the audience's heartbeat also accelerates instantly.
Another highlight of [Hole] is the portrayal of the protagonist's psychology. For this reason, Jacques Baker designed five characters with distinct personalities in the script, the cautious Manu, the sophisticated Roland, the taciturn Gio, the cheerful Gasparti, the incomprehensible "Lord", and the five of them performed an amazing escape from prison. Jacques Baker peels off the characters almost slowly, layer by layer, and uses them to "peel" to keep the story going. At this point [the hole] is a masterpiece!
