Features of "The Hole"

Generally speaking, narrative films need a high-quality script as a guarantee, and [hole] is no exception to this point. What I'm trying to say is that not all good scripts make good movies. [The hole] succeeded, and director Jacques Baker was the deciding factor. The same script is given to another director, and the effect must be different. Maybe he can make a good movie, but I dare say that it must not be as good as Jacques Baker. Not everyone has the ability to navigate the whole perfectly while maintaining a good balance. This talent has been enjoyed by geniuses since the dawn of civilization, and will continue to do so. Jacques Baker is one such genius.
The sound in the film, in a narrow sense, refers to the dialogue and background music. Today, with the popularity of soundtracks, its role is becoming more and more important. But it was probably considered redundant at the time, at least [hole] thought so. Jacques Baker was concerned with images that could be amplified by sound, and in the [hole] this was treated as "focus". When a large number of short shots and close-ups cannot fully describe the meaning of the image, Jacques Baker, inspired by his genius, uses the "sudden sound" brilliantly. For this treatment, Jacques Beck never tires of it, and uses it many times in the [hole], and the audience's heartbeat also accelerates instantly.
Another highlight of [Hole] is the portrayal of the protagonist's psychology. For this reason, Jacques Baker designed five characters with distinct personalities in the script, the cautious Manu, the sophisticated Roland, the taciturn Gio, the cheerful Gasparti, the incomprehensible "Lord", and the five of them performed an amazing escape from prison. Jacques Baker peels off the characters almost slowly, layer by layer, and uses them to "peel" to keep the story going. At this point [the hole] is a masterpiece!

At the beginning, I always wondered if the head of the warden was kicked by a donkey if the five people were locked together. The five people discussed how quickly they could escape from the prison. Only in the end did I realize that locking people together is the most difficult prison to escape.

    1. Very exciting movie! Various small details express the character of the character, and the grasp of human nature is also in place. 2. The camera is aimed at various repetitive tasks (checking packages, prison guards opening doors, smashing, sawing), which is very realistic and more shocking. 3. The scene where a piece of light gradually goes away in the darkness that appears many times at the bottom of the prison is very much appreciated! 4. The metaphor of putting a worm into a cobweb. 5. The image in the ending scene is terrifying.
