Kim Ki-duk is still Kim Ki-duk, nothing has changed. He easily grasped the Korean social issue of cosmetic surgery and raised the subject to a higher boiling point in his own way.

Kim Ji-deok Element 1: "Water" Shapes Movie Space

From "Drift Bathroom" to "Spring Comes to Winter", and then to "Bow", "water" has always been the empty background for Kim Ji-deok to create movie space. Although "Time" tells the love story in the city, he still condenses the feelings between the two in the sculpture park by the sea. In the images of these modern sculptures, even the ordinary plain love becomes profound and pure. , even eternity.

Kim Ki-duk Element 2: Extreme Expressions

The first thirty minutes of "Time" looked dull, until the heroine Se-hee was in a state of struggle, and finally when she met her boyfriend in a cafe wearing a demonic mask , I shouted: Kim Ki-deok! This is Kim Ki-duk!
In fact, this paper mask technique was also used by Kim Ki-duk in "Unknown Recipient". The girl who lost one eye tore a beautiful woman's eye from the magazine and put it on her face, standing alone by the river, looking into the river reflection.
These two pictures can be completely independent and exist as a work of art, but in the simple images, they have a strong surrealism color.

Kim Ki-deok Element 3: Meditation

The word "Zen" has become inseparable from Kim Ki-duk. Time, the word in this film is entirely a philosophical concept. In the last scene, Se Hee, who had undergone the second plastic surgery, walked out of the plastic surgery clinic with the photo in her arms, and was bumped into by the self before the plastic surgery, which shattered the photo of herself after the first plastic surgery.
She has completely lost herself. She doesn't know who she is anymore, she can never go back to the way she was, and she can't go back to the good old days.
From the first half of Sehee's peeping to the second half of Sehee's search, loss, and self-reflection, I think this is what Kim Ki-duk wants to say in the film. Love is just a sticky label.
