You say, I love you. I said, stay. I almost said, possess me. You said, let's go.
"Ancestor and Zhan" is about the love of two men and one woman. Zu said, I watched a Chinese stage play a long time ago, and the emperor came out and said, "What you see is the most unhappy group of people in the world, because I have two wives, a big one and a little one." This is probably the central line of the film. The black and white film made in 1962 is set in France before and after the First World War. The story is very modern. Truffaut is indeed a master of the new wave.
Zu and Zhan are two friends who are inseparable like Don Quixote's master and servant. Zu is German and Zhan is French. Under the introduction of his friend Apu, he fell in love with a portrait of a woman left over from ancient times. Catherine, who I met later, had exactly the same look and demeanor as the head portrait. Two men fell in love with this ghostly woman who could not be easily possessed by men. The three of them are entangled and are called three fools by others.
The lines are very delicate. "Paris greeted them tenderly", "I dreamed or it rained. Maybe both". Zu took Zhan to see Catherine, reminding Zhan, "But this one won't work, okay?" Zhan still fell in love with Catherine, "I like to look at the back of your neck, that's the only one you can't see me. Looking at your place." Facing Zu's marriage proposal, Catherine said, "You don't know a few women, but I know a lot about men, so maybe we can get along." They got married, and Zu wrote to her on the battlefield , "I don't miss your soul, because I have no faith. I miss your chest, your thighs, butt, and belly." Catherine broke up with Zhan in the hotel, "The hotel makes me feel guilty. I'm not moral, but I don't like trysts either." "Are you in pain? I'm not in pain. I don't want two people in pain at the same time. When you're not in pain, I'll be in pain again."
This neurotic woman who likes to go to extremes, Fifteen years old, infatuated with Napoleon, imagined meeting in an elevator, he enlarged her belly, and never showed up again. She is always curious, full of adventure thoughts, and dreams of being on a strange boat and having sex with a strange man. She burned men's letters, dreamed of splashing the eyes of disrespectful men with sulfuric acid, and plunged into the Seine in the cold winter just to protest Zu Wuxin's remarks.
She's not particularly pretty or smart and sincere, but she's a real woman. She jumped into other men's beds as resolutely as she jumped into the Seine, and every time she gave herself a small reason, in order to bid farewell to being single, in order to avenge Zu's reticent mother, in order to be with the same unfaithful man A tie. She's usually very frank, I just said goodbye to my old love, don't you want a child of our own, if I do it now, I can't be sure that the child is yours, I have to pay off the debt, and wait until I'm sure I'm not pregnant with a child time, start over. She can get involved with three men at the same time. In front of Zu Hezhan, he wrapped the pajamas into small packages, held them in his hands, happily took them on an outing, pretended to meet Apu by chance, and left with Apu with his pajamas. Zu and Zhan treat her like a queen. She can get men used to her infidelity, but can't stand her leaving. Her logic is that in a pair of love, only one person can be faithful.
When she learned that Occupy was marrying another woman, she took out her revolver, locked the door, pointed at him and said, "You're going to die." Account managed to escape. A few months later, I met her again and got into her car in desperation. She said to Zu outside the car, look at us. Zu was like this, watching her smile as he drove Zhan frantically into the Seine.

Jules and Jim quotes

  • Jules: The most important factor in any relationship is the woman's fidelity. The husband's is secondary. Who was it who wrote, "Woman is natural, therefore abominable?"

Jim: Baudelaire, but he was describing a certain world.

Jules: Not at all. He spoke of women in general. What he says about a young girl is magnificent: "Horror, monster, assassin of the arts, little fool, little slut. The greatest idiocy combined with the greatest depravity." Wait. I'm not finished. This is marvelous: "I'm always astonished they allow women inside churches. What could they possibly have to say to God?"

    Catherine: You're both fools.

  • Jim: I understand.

Catherine: I don't want to be understood. It's almost dawn.
