Let's talk about the blending techniques in this movie

I just finished watching this movie in Hong Kong 3 District yesterday, which includes a brief review of Ang Lee and John Woo. Ang Lee specifically mentioned the integration of the Jane Brothers' documentary and cinematic techniques, and he deeply felt the same. The dramatic skills incorporated in the following episodes made me unforgettable:
1. After Brown brought his son to the trading place for the first time, in order to ensure " The buyer's information will not be obtained by this little ruffian, and Brown will have to wait in another room. There's about a minute and a half of long shots, and we're looking at Brown, listening to the sounds next door, going through this long ordeal with Brown. It was also because of this shot that we really focused our attention on the protagonist Brown.
2. When Brown redeemed his son, he also chose an occasion to cover each other. But this time we see the hands of the "prime buyer", and that's from a completely different class than Brown. So the director arranged a dramatic detail: Brown stepped on an iron bucket to reach the high hand. When Brown handed over the money and anxiously waited for his son to return, we once again experienced a long shot, accompanied Brown to listen to the sound of the banknote counting for half a minute, and clearly asked for the last banknote.
3. Before Brown decided to trade his son, he kept stepping on a puddle of sewage and kicking on the opposite wall. The director used such a scene to express the psychology of a father who is also a child when he made such a decision.
4. When Brown truly regretted and decided to take the plunge again, he changed into his second outfit in the movie, a red sports jacket.

The above shot is very good in the whole documentary style film, full of tension, I was deeply shocked. The film is not limited to the narrow perspective of other grassroots films, blindly expressing class differences and accusing society. Instead, we examine human nature at a higher level. Our joy, anger, sadness, and joy, these four emotions are fully described in the movie. The other classes appeared only three times. The buyer (2 times), the policeman (2 times), and the mother (1 time) did not appear as oppressors. But they were all the same indifference and inhumanity.
Hats off to such a cool movie that doesn't even have a soundtrack! !
