Dreams will always shine----about the "October Sky"
naiveAPPLE

This disc has been lying in my CD-ROM drive for a month, and I borrowed it from the library excitedly, but I have never brought up my interest in watching it. Until today—because it must be returned to the library tomorrow—I finally sat down and looked at it.

The first half of the movie was so dull that I had to stand up all the time to get some snacks, making it hard to concentrate. Maybe I feel that the story of the 1950s is too far away from me, and this is a backward town, people's lives are lackluster, and their eyes are narrowly focused on their own small circles. I wasn't really attracted until Homer's father had an accident at the coal mine.

In fact, it is a very simple and very contextual story.

I was so involved in the second half that I almost burst into tears. In such a poor town, the boys' only future was to graduate high school and go to work in the coal mines. With rare exceptions, boys can only play football well and can get college scholarships to avoid the hardships of their parents. The dream was ignited one night. This beautiful night, some accidentally entered the young man's heart; however, the dream really sprouted. It seems that the more difficult the place, the sweeter the dream; the more obstructed it is, the more rock-solid the boy is. Even though he wasn't his father's favorite child, he had his father as his hero—integrity, perseverance, and responsibility. That's why he uses his immature shoulders to support the family when the family loses support in an instant. I thought his dream was about to be disillusioned. . . Turnaround. . .

The barren land finally bloomed bright flowers.

I thought of Billy Elliot, the ballet boy eager to dance life, a dancer, a scientific teenager, the beautiful dreams they cherished in hardship, the fighting spirit inspired by adversity, and the unique way they treat their future. Perseverance is what people of our age lack, and it is also very precious. There is also Miss Riley, a mentor from the soul. Without her enthusiasm and encouragement, the teenager may have been buried in the mediocrity. "Sometimes you can't listen to anyone, and no one knows what is right for you. You have to listen. the calling of your own heart."

I still remember an advertisement that I like: the size of the heart, the size of the stage.

In China, the chance of a true story being put on the screen is very small, and the appearance of real people and history like Fargo, Billy Elliot, October Sky, A beautiful mind, hurricane, Seabiscuit is almost impossible in the Chinese market, the only biography The films are all high-profile theme films with the praise of great men. Aside from the real story, Chinese films play a role in the process of inspiring young people's ideals and developing their personalities.

I hate and admire these Hollywood directors. Even though some films are made, the audience is limited and the screen/cinema chain is limited, but they still insist on shooting. Movies like Billy Elliot and October sky are obviously inspirational, they don't have big stars (the old actors are not protagonists, there are few scenes), there are no stunts and big scenes, there is no magic world and the basis of best-selling novels, and the box office is not too high. (Unless he wins an award, Billy Elliot seems to be favored at a film festival, and Good will hunting will earn more money after winning the Oscar.) But after watching such a movie, it will not be It is easy to fade in the mind, because they often affect the various good wishes that everyone has had in their hearts.

In the early years, Kevin Costner once collaborated with Clint Eastwood on a literary film "A perfect world". The characters and plot are very simple, but the emotions are full of emotions. Although it was a complete failure at the box office, human nature is pure and beautiful. It was advertised just right, tepid.

If Chinese movies can one day not care about big productions, big scenes, high box office and big names, then lower the head, there may still be a way to survive.

October Sky quotes

  • Roy Lee: I'll tell you what's unbelievable... captain of the football team being jealous of you.

  • Principal Turner: Miss Riley, our job is to give these kids an education.

    Miss Riley: Mmm-hmm.

    Principal Turner: Not false hopes.

Miss Riley: False hopes? Do you want me to sit quiet, let 'em breathe in coal dust the rest of their life?

Principal Turner: Miss Riley, once in a while... a lucky one... will get out on a football scholarship. The rest of 'em work in the mines.

Miss Riley: How 'bout I believe in the unlucky ones? Hmm? I have to, Mister Turner, I'd go out of my mind.
