A little afterthought of "serial experiments lain" ("Ling Yin")

Recently I heard about a work called "Ling Yin" (1998).

At first, I was attracted by the OP. The OP has been in my playlist for a long time. One day, I accidentally searched the source of the animation "Lingyin" on the Internet. I saw that the evaluation of "Lingyin" on the Internet is very mysterious, ( Yes, it’s like taking drugs and saying it’s great, great, great). Similar, everyone said that it has connotation, stream of consciousness, experimental animation, high evaluation overseas, hard science fiction, but most people also say that you don't need to understand, don't understand, just feel it. These comments make me feel like using the proposition itself to prove the proposition, "You are good because you are good; you are good because you are you". Why do people still say it's good if they don't understand it? So I couldn't help but take a look.

There are two points that attracted me at the beginning of "Lingyin": First, the high-contrast picture color, the high-brightness and impurity-free white, the whiteness of the sky, the whiteness of the ground, and the whiteness of the air, and then I smelled a An indescribable scent and emotion, a white that is stronger than a hospital, a white that is more empty than blank. (And the ink red in the shadow (some people say it is blood red) is also very attractive to me. It is more intense than the real, but it is really an illusory color.) Second, the sound of electricity from the poles, yes, similar to The hum of the computer while I'm typing now. Maybe it’s because we think we’re in reality, so we don’t have any feeling for the buzzing sound of our computer, and we even automatically block it out, but when it appears in the animation so clearly, it brings Nothingness and unease, very novel. In the next few episodes, because of the slow pace, I almost persuaded me to give up. But after two days of abandoning it, when I couldn't help but listen to the OP again, I couldn't help but keep chasing it.

Not much to say, the plot introduction is not what I want to write. After talking about why I am chasing it, I will directly talk about a little bit of my opinion. Limited by my knowledge reserve, the language of my organization may be very confusing, and my understanding may be shallow and naive in the eyes of some people in related fields, please understand.

A little afterthought:

1. LAIN implies the existence of the true God, and that in a certain era (such as the era when the "network" in LAIN is developed,) there will be an agent of God.

2. How many LAINs are there? At first I thought LAIN was a software created by someone, but later LAIN said that everyone is a program. Does it mean that the world we exist in is an upper world of some lower world? But LAIN also said that the online world does not exist in the real world, nor does the real world exist in the online world. The relationship between the two worlds may be that they coexist in different dimensions and influence each other.

3. LAIN's self-talk. In the play, LAIN has many self-talks, and even the same "real world" LAIN sometimes has a personality transformation, and the tone and personality of his speech have changed. It's easy to think of multiple personalities. But I don't think so. I think those manifestations are LAIN's self-awareness, but LAIN's self-awareness has a perfect process, and LAIN's repeated self-talk is this self-awareness process.

4. Why do so many cyberpunk works use the concept of "network" to develop? I'm thinking about this too. I think "network" may have two meanings. One is sociology. With the development of the network, the social connection and communication of human beings spread from reality to network. The second is natural science. On the one hand, the information storage and diffusion functions of the network are changing the information foundation of society. On the other hand, the upgrading and integration of network software and hardware may eventually lead to the "evolution" of human beings (but this evolution is due to the network development causes less). There is no obvious depiction of human physical evolution in LAIN, and more spiritual depictions, but other similar science fiction works will emphasize more human transformation.

I rearrange my thinking. Is there a possibility that the memories described in LAIN become archives? What is its physical mechanism? LAIN describes many fantastic concepts, but none of them give possible physical explanations (scientific explanations), making it seem almost cryptic (conspiracy theories). (Of course, it may be that my knowledge level is not enough, and I have not noticed or understood many of the references in it.) However, I believe that the world described in LAIN is indeed possible. Understand what it means to do that, or there are ethical confusions and obstacles.

6. What is the collective unconscious? I don't have the relevant knowledge reserve, I just understand it based on the stream of consciousness conveyed to me by LAIN, I think the collective unconscious is a contagious (contagious) emotion, an emotion that people desire to connect (influence) with others (society), It's also a price.

7. By the way, I think the world in the play, if it is self-consistent, should not be "reality". After all, people can't be resurrected from the dead, but it is also said in the ending that it is not time to go backwards, but to rewrite memory (archive), just People have been resurrected from the dead, and everyone's social existence and even personality have undergone subtle changes. This may echo what is repeatedly mentioned in the play, "people" only exist in other people's understanding of him, so rewriting memory means rewriting people's cognition of the world, and the world will naturally change. So, this show is idealistic.

8. But I think it's hard to say whether this show is idealistic or materialistic. I can feel what it means to seek the truth. It seems to think that people's memory and cognition in the play also have material entities and can be "physically" (artificially) transformed, while memory and cognition are also Changed the "real" world, so to speak, it is materialism again.

9. I hope LAIN can clarify some of the axioms and premises in its worldview more clearly, so that it will be easier to understand and reason about. I admit I didn't understand either hhhhh

In my opinion, if it is very systematic, this animation can still have an overall score of 8.8. It is very unique, and the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

Serial Experiments Lain quotes

  • Lain Iwakura: Why? Why did you die?

Navi [Dictating Chisa's response]: God is here.

  • Iwakura, Yasuo: Let me give you one little warning.

    Lain Iwakura: Huh?

Iwakura, Yasuo: When it's all said and done, the Wired is just a medium of communication and the transfer of information. You mustn't confuse it with the real world. Do you understand what I'm warning you about?

    Lain Iwakura: You're wrong.

    Iwakura, Yasuo: Huh?

Lain Iwakura: The border between the two isn't all that clear. I'll be able to enter it soon. In full range. Full motion. I'll translate myself into it.

Iwakura, Yasuo: Even with a top of the line civilian Navi, you couldn't.

Lain Iwakura: I can do it. I've modified mine.

Iwakura, Yasuo: A Psyche processor, huh? But...

Lain Iwakura: Don't worry. I'm still me.

    Iwakura, Yasuo: Sometimes I wonder.
