In "Hurricane Rescue", he flew from the United States to Europe, and within 96 hours with clues, he found the father of the trafficked daughter in the vast sea of people, do you remember?
The tension and excitement of the film is still relished to this day.
It starred Liam Neeson , and later "Air Rescue" and "Commuter Rescue", all single-handed action heroes.
But this year, his new action film " Cold Blood Pursuit " is different.
Looking at the poster of "Cold Blood Pursuit", I thought it was a stylized type film similar to "Frozen Blood".
On the white and flawless snow, there was a string of shocking footprints, and not far away there were bloodstains.
Looking down, a winding rut with bloodstains cut through the snow.
There are also horrific images of tree trunks penetrating the sedan.
After watching it, I realized that this is a black humor revenge film .
It is a remake of the 2014 Norwegian film Order of Disappearance, directed by the same director, Hans Peter Moran.
However, the ice and snow in northern Europe was moved to a quiet town in Denver, USA.
Snowplow driver Nelson (Liam Neeson) drives a high-powered snowplow every day to clear the road for traffic.
The film begins with a snowplow driving alone on the vast snow field.
Accompanied by a cheerful soundtrack, it is quite a bit of self-indulgence.
Then, in the early morning, the sky was bright, and the snow plows shone faintly in the vast snow.
For decades, driving a snow plow alone in the snow that is often unmanned and car-free, it seems to be a bit lonely and hidden from the lone ranger.
However, "The Lone Ranger" Nelson has a sweet home.
On the morning Nelson was named an honorary citizen of the town, his wife took care of his attire.
If nothing happened next, Nelson was a typical middle-class American, living a well-organized and stable life, a happy family, and a winner in life.
Unfortunately, this scene of happiness only lasted for a short five minutes.
His only son Kyle was being killed as he spoke on the podium...
The trajectory of Nelson's life began to move in another direction from this day.
True to what he said on the podium: "When you're driving the same road every day, it's easy to want to switch roads."
He really switched paths.
This makes the second half of his sentence, "And I try not to think that way, because, luckily, I chose the right path in the first place." It's ironic .
Nelson did not believe what the police said that his son died of a heroin overdose, but his son died after all.
Emotionally forbearing, after the funeral, he came to his garage alone and decided to commit suicide.
Before pulling the trigger, he knew the murderer of his son, the town's big drug lord "Viking".
This time, the father who persevered to save his daughter began his perseverance in revenge.
But just when you thought Liam Neeson was going to be good again, the film took a 180-degree turn.
The big drug lord "Viking" believes that the three men who disappeared one after another inexplicably were killed by the rival Indian gang.
So he shot the head of the son of the Indian gang leader "White Bull" and exposed the corpse in the wilderness as a response.
Thus, the film dramatically turned into a life-and-death relationship between the two gangs, until the end.
And Nelson, from the middle of the film, has been a bystander, or, a oriole following a mantis catching cicadas.
Even in the end, he teamed up with the Indian gang leader "White Bull", and the two fathers who lost their beloved sons avenged the big drug lord "Viking".
The steps are very simple, you drive a snowplow and roll up a tree trunk to "set" his car, and then I shoot him.
Works perfectly together!
This kind of rough way from northern Europe , the sudden final blow is the highlight of the whole film .
It feels like the whole film, like everyone dies, Nelson's fate, events unfold.
For example, when Nelson killed the second person, he thoughtfully asked the other party a question that could not be beaten:
"Who is the greatest quarterback of all time?"
The other party replied with a bewildered face.
Nelson, still nodding thoughtfully, took his life with a neatly raised gun.
This seems to be asking the other party to choose a method of death that he himself does not know, and Uncle Nelson's "thoughtful" seriousness and his neatness form a " contrasting cuteness ".
The poor man thought that the uncle was going to let him go.
The same "contrast cuteness" is also reflected in when he cleans up the third person.
First, we tracked the snow all the way. Under the adjustment of music, the atmosphere was tense.
Seeing the snowplow get closer and closer.
Suddenly, Nelson turned the snowplow to another road, the people in the jeep in front were relieved, but we knew - the good drama was coming!
Sure enough, whoever meets unexpectedly wins.
Full score for the soundtrack here.
I can't help but sigh, Uncle Nelson really knows how to play. This cat-to-mouse tracking is fun and deadly.
After watching a lot of revenge movies produced by the Hollywood assembly line, this little story from Northern Europe makes people feel special.
With the chilling and sternness of the extremely cold land, he gently uses humor to cover up the deep ridicule of life and destiny ...
It has a bit of Quentin Tarantino's wildly violent aesthetic , showing all sorts of unexpected ways to die.
Taking advantage of our psychology, every time we feel that Nelson is about to stop, the next second the screen goes black.
In addition, there is a bit of British cold humor and a bit of American self-deprecation .
For example, in the second half of the movie, the Indian gang threatened the front desk lady with "If you insist on making us make a reservation, I will complain about your racial discrimination."
However, the original Norwegian film "Order of Disappearance" is rougher and the villain is more distinctive.
Whether it's a crazy drug lord or a slow Serbian dad, it's all very personal.
The remake of the American version of "Cold-Blood Pursuit" has added Hollywood elements to neutralize some of the roughness , making it more witty and gentle .
For example, the "Viking" drug lord who made people laugh and slapped his ex-wife, not only did not slap, but also received a "monkey stealing peach" from his ex-wife.
In the original version, this slap was quick, accurate, and ruthless.
But in general, "Cold Blood Pursuit" still retains the lonely, quiet narrative style and deep story structure of Nordic movies . After all, the director is the same.
I watched "Cold Pursuit" and then "The Order of Disappearance". Although the latter is rougher than the former in all aspects, I like the unique quality of Nordic movies-wildness.
How about you?
