This is a catfish effect story. And the Annabelle doll is the catfish.
Comparing the quality of this one, Annabelle in the first two films can be regarded as a masterpiece. Previously, in the wild environment, Annabelle had attracted demon-level dark power. But in this work, Annabelle can only attract some grievances, earthbound spirits and so on.
Annabelle in the previous two films, although the expression is a bit unsatisfactory, at least she is telling a spiritual story. And the story is told quite well. On the main line of the story, the audience can dig out more details, and many details can be compatible with the Soul Conjuring Universe.
But Annabelle in this work is not telling a story, but a special scary and scary plot, which belongs to Wen Ziren's familiar turn-back kill (or multiple turn-back kills).
The plot of this work is very simple. It tells the story of a night where parents are not at home, and the bear child messes with things, causing chaos in the house. The heroine is the daughter of the hero and heroine. The two secondary heroines, one talked about a budding love, and the other was quirky and had a heavy psychological burden of hurting his father. These three people, plus a goofy boy, is all this theater relationship is all about. Apart from the superficial plot of the characters, the film does not delve into any human relationships.
Love, friendship, family affection, and even campus bullying seem to be involved, but not in depth. The protagonist team of the film is just a prop that screams in horror when Annabelle leads his army of evil objects.
The highlight of the film is Annabelle and his terrifying sidekick. This time, this ugly doll got what he wanted, and it was very good to activate all the evil items in stock. But in the whole film, most of the various evil objects are just a glimpse, basically they don't leave any special effects on people, and the damage is not too big. If you want to use the character of Annabelle to string together more elements of the conjuring universe, then this film is quite a failure at this point.
Even more unsuccessful is Annabelle. What is the purpose of this strange puppet between stupid and agile? If he really is a conscious, evil spirit-manipulated enchantment portal (as he said in the first two installments), then Annabelle's primary goal must be to leave that powerful couple free and go to the vast Tiandi is looking for its own greater development and the realization of deep value, why are they still indulging in it and playing hide-and-seek with their daughter?
It's like a love action movie, very pure, nothing but scary scenes.
The final outcome of Annabelle is to be suppressed in the cabinet again. I don't know if there will be a follow-up story. But if this level of story continues to be presented, then I beg Director Wen, it's fine to keep this ugly doll in the closet and not come out.
