Another good movie I almost missed because of the rubbish title translation and synopsis.
This film reminds me of "Black Sunday" and "Love in Prague", which are the love between two men and one woman or two women and one man in Europe during World War II. However, the theme of this film is more positive. The director's pen and ink are not too entangled in the emotions of the three people, but let the three protagonists devote themselves to the anti-fascist battle one after another.
It's because of the prophecy when she was young: "I see, you can only live to thirty-four..." She was afraid of birthdays, and she has always been indulgent and daring to live, music, painting, sculpture, photography, etc. All tried enthusiastically, but nothing lasted.
I think for Gilda, the motherland, justice, faith, these noble and beautiful words have nothing to do with her. What really matters to her is him and her.
But Mia died, for those ideals and beliefs she didn't care about. And she had to do something for her or for him, just like in the past, after Mia was whipped by her perverted boyfriend, she wisely took revenge on him. So, she became a secret intelligence officer; so, when he and her met on the streets of Paris in the early morning, no matter how much she wanted to jump up to hug and kiss him, she could only choose to turn away indifferently.
In fact, there is no need to worry about Gilda's death, it is just a deliberate arrangement by the director to increase the tragic shock of the film. What really matters is that she has been in this world, she has lived passionately, loved and been loved, and she will always be missed by him...
The picture of the film is beautiful, the actors are eye-catching, and the two-hour film does not feel long at all. Charlize Theron's acting skills are still as good as her beauty, and Penelope Cruz 's beauty is as always ignored by her acting skills, although her acting skills are also first-class.
