From the first second of the first episode, HBO's "Watchmen" determined the direction of digging deep into racial issues, transitioning from the bloody history of the Ku Klux Klan to the current alternate background of Watchmen.
In 2019, the superheroes and masked guards in the world of Watchmen were banned, and the safety of the police was threatened. Coming from the post-heroic era, it is very similar to the now popular "Joker", and the delicate background of the story is presented in a false way, which has a imagination space that makes people think about "The Handmaid's Tale".
According to the official statement, the only superheroes that will appear in HBO's first season of "Watchmen" are Doctor Manhattan, Silk Ghost and Pharaoh. I believe that HBO's Watchmen's word-of-mouth ratings are not bad, but it may not be friendly to audiences who are not fully familiar with the "Watchmen" comics, and who do not understand Western history and culture, and most importantly, the realistic style will make a lot of people want to watch it. The audience for superheroes was a little disappointed.
