She tries to cover the whole eventful life of a 80-year old , which is already a mission-impossible for a 2-hour-long movie, even with the help of the Coen brothers. She should have just focused on one part of the book, namely the last part about forgiveness and tolerance. Instead, the best part is just glossed over by a few seconds. It just turns out to be a messy mix of everything: Pearl Harbor, Forest Gump, Life of Pi, and then The Shawshank Redemption or so many other movies about criminal camps.
