Jerry Bruckheimer, a Hollywood gold medal producer, almost all of his films are well-made, magnificent scenes, and various special effects. This [Sorcerer’s Apprentice] is such an assembly line production. It has two hot elements, the most popular magician and otaku. The actors perform hard, the magic special effects scene is dazzling, and Hollywood likes exotic Chinese elements. Although all these are as cheap as the assembly line industry, they at least ensure the liveliness of the film. The most unbearable thing is the story line of the script. The two fatalistic loves of young and old make the theory of the story have no basis, resulting in the film being like a jigsaw puzzle, completely unable to make up a whole. The part about magic looks very lively, and the part where the otaku picks up girls is boring and makes people want to sleep.

Just like the [Transformers] [National Treasure] [Prince of Persia], the beginning of the film also uses the Brookheimer-style chanting and wedge opening set, and first design the plot direction for the audience. In the Merlin era 1300 years ago, Mage Merlin subdued Mogana and Horvatz (Alfred Molina), and Bassaza (Nicholas Cage)'s old friend Veronica (Monica Bay) Lu Qi) is also hidden deep in the puppet by accident. Before his death, Merlin predicted that once they were released, they would destroy the world. I believe clever audiences can guess how the film will be played next. Hollywood screenwriters generally say the more they can’t do things, they just happen to be done by some destined guys. So Dave (Jay Baruchel), the otaku who was destined to change the world, released the evil Horvatz after Cage had just finished talking about the puppet. The next step is to see how the otaku plays Learn magic under Qi's teaching, and finally pick up girls to save the world.

Speaking of picking up girls, this line of love is the most important part of the film. One is Dave and his destined beautiful girlfriend Becky (Telisa Palmer), and the other is Uncle Cage and Monica Bellucci. After the exciting magical scene, it feels strange to see the otaku who is already weak in action. Just like the screenwriter is bullying the audience for not knowing the otaku, if the otaku can really pick up girls like Dave, it would be weird, this is obviously a normal guy! If you insist on treating Dave as a normal person, this is inconsistent with his previous behavior. In short, it makes you feel contradictory. Good love could have eased the audience's nerves after a tense battle, but it turned out to be a carrier of sleep. This part of the plot completely dismembered a complete film into pieces.

The movie’s magical scenes and many duck-like special effects are still very useful, no matter whether these things are fast food-style industrial assembly line products, at least the audience knows that these are money-consuming things. Seeing that Harry Potter is about to end, the four siblings of Narnia are very disappointed, and the Hobbit is nowhere in sight. At this time, the film under the guise of magic seems to be a beautiful piece of sweet pastry. The producer inherited his usual magic weapon, all necessary for exotic style, drag racing, and special effects. The first half of the movie is obviously much better than the second half. The Chinese elements in the Chinatown section of China look beautiful. The Chinese red scene is very festive, and the special effects of the Chinese dragon are also very exciting. As for the final battle of the film, watching the otaku defeat the evil Mogana and rescue Cage, except for the short appearance of the former sexy goddess Monica Bellucci, it is extremely cordial, and the rest is lackluster.

Blockbuster films like to leave a tail for the sequel, and this film is no exception. Let’s not talk about whether Monica Bellucci’s role in the sequel will be more protagonist. The villain Alfred Molina played Hova Ci and his little attendant also had no explanation during the war. I really don't know if this was cut off by the director later, or left a tail for the sequel. All in all, this is very uncomfortable. Bellucci's role is not to mention, the villain Horvatz, who has been busy with the whole film, has disappeared for no reason. Which audience can bear it? A breath of life or death!

It is said that since Nicholas Cage met Bruckheimer, he has completely changed from a literary youth to a guy who makes a few bad films and makes a few fools every year. In the previous paragraph, I encountered a financial crisis. In order to make money, I can pick up any bad film. And last year's [Bad Lieutenant] once again let fans who think that Cage is dead again see the signs of the second spring of Cage's career. The [King of the Sea Bian] at the beginning of the year was a small surprise. This time [The Magician’s Apprentice] Ri Keqi’s acting skills were resurrected again. Although this kind of commercial assembly line production does not have many opportunities for Keqi to show his acting skills, but At least Cage looked like he was acting this time, not shamelessly grabbing money. It seems that as long as the script is first read, Cage can still regain his former style.

If you are familiar with Bruckheimer’s movies, [The Magician’s Apprentice] is still familiar with the road, not only does not have the slightest surprise, the plot is too weak to support so many magical scenes, and finally makes the film look like fragmented pieces. It's the same. For this gold medal producer, this kind of assembly-line production with a light car and familiar road is definitely the result of not being enterprising and thinking about speculation and making money. Take a look at [Prince of Persia], also from Disney. The otaku is slightly stronger than the prince. Obviously, this is not a beautiful comparison.

That Merlin hero acting is so annoying.

  • Veronica: Balthazar, what have you done?

Balthazar: The same thing you did for me.

Narrator: The war between Sorcerers was fought in the shadows of history, and the fate of mankind rested with the just and powerful Merlin. He told his secrets to three trusted apprentices: Balthazar, Veronica, and Horvath. He should have trusted only two.
